Is there a line they will not cross when it comes to violence/insults?
There are very, very few lines that Brit will not cross with the content of her insults. If someone has an obvious insecurity, she will pick at it, regardless of how insensitive it is. She is also not above telling people to their faces that certain tragedies in their lives are funny to her, and the harder they cry, the funnier she finds it.
The place where she draws the line is the way she words her insults. Brit doesn’t swear, ever, at all. She finds it unsavory and prides herself in being able to cut people down to size without dirtying her own mouth with such language. When people argue back with her and start swearing, it makes her incredibly smug, knowing that she has more self-control than they do over that kind of thing.
Another line she draws is that she will not start physical altercations, at least not by throwing the first punch. This is mostly out of self-preservation, as she isn’t good at fighting, so it is more advantageous for her to fight on a battleground of words. Why would she sacrifice her advantage (and her manicure) by swinging first?
This does not mean that she has never been in physical fights - having such a big mouth makes them unavoidable - but she never starts them herself. The fights she does get into, while she loses pretty much all of them, also do nothing to deter her shitty behavior, as the people who attack first usually get in much more trouble than she does, which only makes her more convinced that she is in the right.
Do they try and justify their actions? How?
Oh, yeah, all the time. A lot of the time, when people will get mad at her for making jabs at their appearance, she will smugly tell them that she’s ~just trying to help~, since she knows way more about fashion than they do. She also kind of sees it as her right to treat people badly, seeing as she is so far up above them on the social ladder. She’ll start being less mean when you start being less pathetic, see, it’s your fault. ❤ A lot of Brit’s rationale comes from the fact that she is a popular bitch, and maintaining the social hierarchy is beneficial for her.
Very much, just... “This is how things are meant to be, between the popular kids and the losers.”
Do they have rituals or other motions they go through to calm themselves following violence?
In order to calm herself down, Brit enjoys doing her nails, emphasis on doing them and not getting them done. While she will pay hundreds of dollars for a professional manicure, when she is mad, she does not want to deal with the other people in a nail salon. Especially if she has recently been in a physical altercation, then her nails probably need to be redone, anyway, since one or more of them are likely broken. But she will do them even if the fight was simply verbal and she got particularly heated.
While people tend to regard Brit’s interest in fashion as vapid and meaningless, it serves as her creative outlet, allowing her to work through her feelings in the same way that painters and writers do. There is something therapeutic to be found in changing her nails to suit her mood, and meticulously detailing her nail art is always a good way to take her mind off of the recent situation, since it requires her full attention.
You can always tell when Brit has done her own nails vs. having them done based on her reaction to breaking one. If she’s had them done recently, she will just bitch about how much they cost. If she’s done them herself, she will start crying lmao
