I wish to complain about the ongoing coverage of the recent royal birth. The BBC has a duty to present facts about political institutions, not celebrate them. Lots of pro-Monarchy representatives have been given airtime, whilst the views of those who support democratic reforms have generally been marginalised.
I have heard little debate of the ethics of hereditary power, and many other important news stories have been bumped in favour of a deferential and celebratory view of the anti-democratic, secretive and expensive royal family. Little has been spoken about how the newborn does not have any choice in how his life will pan out, or how the majority of the British public cannot hold the office of Head Of State.
I strongly urge you to make sure that news reports on powerful political institutions show an element of criticism, rather than helping keep them afloat through fawning coverage and what can almost be described as propaganda.
Best wishes,
