tonight i am the gravedigger, digging up old wips and trying to breathe new life into them. anyone fancy some boromir/legolas?
Legolas had happened upon him accidentally. Hidden in the shadowy recesses of the glade, Boromir had bared himself to the waist to tend a wound in his side. An axe wound, by the look of it, splitting the skin just beneath the barrel of his ribcage. Shallow, but weeping.
Boromir curled a finger into a jar of salve and scooped out a quantity. He winced, took a few breaths to steady himself, and brought his hand to the wound with a low moan. Legolas chose that moment to reveal himself.
“You suffer needlessly. There are great healers among us,” he called, venturing a few steps forward into the clearing.
With a startled intake of breath Boromir’s head snapped up, eyes darting wildly about before settling on the familiar figure of the Elf prince. His gaze narrowed.
“I do not need Elvish medicine,” he said through clenched teeth, slowly spreading the salve along the open wound.
“Not even from the hands of a friend?”
Boromir snorted. “I think not.”
“Then what will you accept?” Legolas closed the distance between them swiftly, his tone beseeching. “Have a care, Captain. From the moment we set forth on this journey, your life has no longer been your own. When you chose this path you pledged yourself to The Ringbearer, and he counts on your protection. They all do. Think of the little ones, of what should happen to them if you fall.”
Boromir’s jaw was set, his eyes downcast, but when Legolas attempted to take the pot of salve from his hand he did not resist.
