With permission from the parents, I’ve decided to upload some more of the drawings that the students did in class today. Their assignments were to draw someone who’s important to them.
From Boruto U.:
[Image ID: A very poorly done, childish drawing. A bipedal, black cat-like shape with a purple collar that has white lines sticking out of it is sticking one of its arms into a brown and red scribble to its right. The signature at the bottom left corner in large, messy handwriting, reads “Boruto” in light blue ink. End ID.]
We had to send a letter home to the parents for this one:
“It’s very nice to see Boruto so passionate about books, but please have a discussion with your child about how much blood is appropriate to draw in school assignments.”
It’s very nice. I thought it was a shinobi performing ninjutsu at first, but was informed it was a cat book Boruto likes. It’s supposed to be his favorite character.
From Shikadai N.:
[Image ID: A childish drawing. It’s not finished; the sky is left uncolored and a tree on the right side only has one leaf sticking out. Two stick figures stand on a sandy shore; both have point hair, one is blonde, one has brown hair. They are looking at a smaller stick figure identical to the brown haired one, who is closer to the water. The piece is overall very under-detailed. End ID]
He didn’t sign it, I don’t think he finished it. He fell asleep halfway through drawing it. It’s a little hard to tell who’s who.
“I really like the lake at the front. Is the person next to your mom one of your cousins?”
From Mitsuki:
[Image ID: A childish drawing on light gray paper. It takes up the top left corner of the page, but the rest is left blank. There is a tall stick figure with a white face, purple eyeliner, and long black hair. Next to them is a smaller figure, with a circle for a head and body. Their face is white, they have long bright blue hair, and their body is colored in with a dark blue. There are some poorly drawn snakes at their feet. The drawing is signed ‘Mitsuki’; the ‘s’ is also a snake. End ID.]
At first he didn’t sign his name on it, but he’s still new to school; he was homeschooled before this, so I don’t think he ever needed to sign papers with his name before.
“I like how you drew the snakes. Who is the person next to you?”
From Chouchou A.:
[Image ID: A basic, childish drawing with little coloring. On the left is a figure with a triangular body and orange hair, smiling. Next to them is a dog with pink ears and red hearts all over their body. Text pointing to the dog reads “my webkinz sweetie”, misspelled as “my wabkins sweatie”. The signature reads, in large childish handwriting, ChouChou Akimichi. All of the i’s are dotted with a heart. End ID.]
What a cute drawing; Chouchou kept on erasing her sketch over and over until she got it just right, and she turned this in to me. I wonder what a wabkins is?
“Sweatie looks very cute. Is she your dog?”
From Metal L.:
[Image ID: A poorly done stick figure drawing with no coloring. The smallest one is labelled “me”. Next to it is a muscly, angry-looking stick figure labelled “dad”. Then, a stick figure doing a handstand labelled “grandpa”. Dad and Grandpa both have cartoonishly large eyebrows. In the top right corner is a stick figure with a triangular, carrot-like head, labelled “Sleepy Grandpa”, who appears to be wearing a mask and a forehead protector. End ID.]
This one is one of my favorites; not a lot of students drew so many of their family members. I don’t think it was meant to be malicious, just taking them for granted. Metal certainly loves his family very much.
“What a nice family portrait. Who is Creepy Grandpa?”
Only one student didn’t do the assignment, and we had to send a letter home to her mother (name censored for privacy). It’s a little sad to me, because I find this assignment is always a favorite among students.
“Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your Child, Sarada U█████, did not receive credit today because she did not do her assignment. She spent class time finishing her math homework rather than following the drawing assignment during class time. Please have a discussion with your child on when it is and isn’t appropriate to do homework.”
