Hello everyone, sorry for the recent delay in posts…. I have not had access to the internet since Hall o’Wean. Why? My students caused a power outage.

Apparently, they had tried to recreate a scene from the movie we watched, Night of the Living Fred, during their recess training break. The scene where the large man and the little boy are wrestling other people. Unfortunately, one of my students got a bit out of hand… literally. I was not there (I was grading papers inside) but seemingly he went for a punch on another student and his arm extended 12 feet… right into the school’s power generator. So, none of the teachers had internet access this week… which is why I could not access my blog (I do not have internet at my house).

I included one of the bad behavior reports we had them fill out (because it was amusing).

Tomorrow we’re not having lessons as we’re having a “Hallow-ween” Party.... the students will be dressed up in fun costumes and we will be watching a movie. I look forward to seeing what they will dress up as... disguises are a very important skill for shinobi (Why? We cannot always rely on genjutsu.)

Although, I haven’t even chosen a movie yet.... suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello everyone...

Recently, Academy staff have been discussing the banning of “Extreme Shinobi Picture Scrolls” from campus grounds. For those not ‘in the know’, “Extreme Shinobi Picture Scrolls” is a trading card game popular among the students, involving trading cards of real-life shinobi with each other. (Did you know I have my own card, too?)

We have considered banning them because of 3 important reasons. The first one being, we’re concerned students will bully each other over whose cards are rarer or cooler... we’re also concerned the students will try and steal each others’ cards, and that this will cause unauthorized on-campus fighting. Most importantly, we’re considering this course of action because of complaints from some parents who believe that this enables their child to engage in gambling.

However... as a teacher, I’ve found myself to grow more and more fond of them. Why is that? They’re a great tool to get young academy students interested in their history. It’s been great seeing more and more students get more involved in our history lessons.

So, as a district, we’ve elected to consult parents, teachers, and even concerned spectators: should this card game be banned from Academy grounds?

The one and only out of character post. This is Masiker (yes, spelled like that) he’s Boruto’s warrior cat OC, and he’s a loyal member of Bloodclan. His dad is Scourge but he doesn’t know that, for now he’s Scourge’s right hand man like Bone. The areas of red on his fur or the stains of blood from his enemies, some got in his blond hair (blond to represent boruto obv). He has a purple color w/teeth just like his dad, but he has another collar that’s literally nothing but teeth to show just how POWERFUL he is. He also has dog teeth piercings, dog teeth claws, ect. One red eye one blue eye (red one is that color cause of bursted blood vessel). He’s slain ~5k enemies (don’t blame us thats what Bortuo said) and he remembers all of their names. Doesn’t want to be leader of Bloodclan. After Scourges death Masiker gets possessed with the spirit of his death father every ½ moon.

Hiii, I’m Mr. Shino’s TA for the year Mirai. Mr. Shino’s busy with adult stuff so I’ve been given access to the blog to make posts of some of the students work! Today they wrote a page on what they want to be when they grow up :D

From Boruto U.:

This students work was pretty hard to read, which seems to be a trend with their previous work. They also put “Idk” for the date even thought the date is written on the board every day :(. Whatever they wrote about I’m glad they have such a passion for whatever they want to be. I also like the little angry guy in the top corner!

From Inojin Y.:

Wow!! I really like the amount of drawings and bright, vibrant colors this student used! It really shows the dedication they have to the craft, and I can definatly see them being a tattoo artist. My favorite one is the dragon at the bottom! It’s a tad conserning they don’t know how to spell tattoo thought... :/

From Sarada U.:

It’s so nice to see kids out there who are willing to go after the tough jobs. Being Hokage isn’t easy but I can see that they are totally going to work as hard as they can to get there, made clear by the writing on both the front AND back of the page. Now if only they put that much work into their cursive xD I had to get my mom to translate it for me. :( It’s also a bit sad that they crossed off their friends hard work.

I’m going to be honest, I didn’t know what a Herpetologist was before reading this students work. It’s cool that they love snakes enough to work in studying them. I was suspicious with the contrast of spelling in the first sentence to the rest of it. Turns out the student copied from Wikipedia :/ At least they cited their source... we had to take some points off for plagiarism though. They also didn’t put the date >:(

Normally I probably wouldn’t have included this student work, but I really liked what they had to say. I had to use a magnifying glass in order to see it... literally. Here’s a translation of what it says just in case: “I don’t know what I want to be but if I had to chose I would like to be my dad becose he makes me happy and I want to make other people happy to :)” They also drew their family, who I know personally. Idk, what they said just warmed my heart, wish they drew themselves happier tho :(

From Chouchou A.:

I think it’s really sweet that they want to improve the world, even if it’s in such a small way like the way people dress. I also like the little <3 they put on top of their “I”s, adds some nice flare. Also I adore the bunnies they drew at the bottom, so fashionable!!

Shikadai N.

Disappointed but not surprised to see that this student typed their assignment at home, really shows how much effort they were willing to put in. It’s almost comedic how even thought it’s typed they still have a lot of spelling and grammar errors. I’m surprised he was able to get away with it, and it’s pathetic to see all the potential be lost. Also they want to be a grocery store worker... interesting...

Sorry for not posting very much, school has been very hard on all of us recently... here’s an amusing note one of my students gave me today. I wonder what it means?

At the beginning of school this week, we had the students due an “about me” assignment. It was due today, so here are some of them. Last names have been censored for privacy.

From Boruto U.: 

[Image ID: A third grade “all about me assignment”, where individual fields are written in with red ink and messy, childish handwriting. It reads: “All about: Boruto. I am 8 1/3 years old. I live with my mommy. My Friends Are: Scourge!!! Himawari. I like to watch: SSS Warriors. My Favorite Color: red. Food: burger. Animal: cats (with a backwards ‘s’). Books: Warriors. Favorite Activities: playing warriors with my sister. I am good at baking cookies (mispelled). When I grow up I want to be: Scourge.” Next to “scourge” there is a drawing of an angry looking cat. This one was a little hard for me to read... I had to get my teacher’s assistant to help me decipher it. As a longtime friend of his mother, I have known Boruto for many years and can safely say this is accurate (although admittedly it’s a little embarrassing I didn’t know about the cat books earlier). He is certainly good at helping Hinata “back cokies”.

From Inojin Y.:

A very creative child, though I’m surprised he didn’t use any colors; I left some crayons and colored pencils out for everyone to use. Normally he includes much more color in his work... either way, it’s no surprise he wants to be a tattoo artist. 

From Sarada U.:

We haven’t started learning cursive yet, but it seems Sarada already has most of it down; it’s pretty messy though, and again I had to enlist my TA to help. Amusingly, she wrote chartreuse in red. I think this might also be a sign for me to start focusing more on proper spelling. Maybe I can combine it with our ninja theory lessons.

From Mitsuki:

I have some concerns regarding the recent transfer student Mitsuki. For one he didn't write his last name, and most of his friends seem to be some sort of inanimate object or wild animal. The ‘parent’ is probably referring to the person in his last drawing. I'm also not too sure he understood what the assignment meant under the "color" section, he seems to have just written a bunch of numbers and letters (unless that’s the name of a color...?) . All in all, this project has created more questions than answered them...

I appreciate the fact that Metal Lee did the assignment properly, although it would be appreciated if he learned to write a bit bigger; I had to ask my TA to help ‘translate’ this one too. He also left the "I'm good at" section blank; did he forget to do it, or is this an insecurity problem? It's good to see a kid his age enjoying so many outdoor activities though. 

From Chouchou A.:

I'm glad to see how much color Chouchou used in her project, and also at the amount of friends she's been able to make. Her strong ambitions to be a fashionista is reflected in her work. It’s also very nice to see her have so many friends... though I’m not sure why Boruto has question marks next to his name.

Of the students who offered to share theirs, only one didn’t turn in anything. I’ve contacted their parents about participation.

Hello everyone... I’ve been given more clearance from my boss to post more of the students’ work, for the benefit of student-teachers interested in working at the Academy. It would get a little repetitive for me to post the same math problems over and over again, so are there any recommendations for some papers that might be educational for both students and teachers? Apologies, it’s also my first time teaching 3rd graders, normally I’m more prepared with my assignments.

With permission from the parents, I’ve decided to upload some more of the drawings that the students did in class today. Their assignments were to draw someone who’s important to them.

From Boruto U.:

“It’s very nice to see Boruto so passionate about books, but please have a discussion with your child about how much blood is appropriate to draw in school assignments.”

It’s very nice. I thought it was a shinobi performing ninjutsu at first, but was informed it was a cat book Boruto likes. It’s supposed to be his favorite character.

He didn’t sign it, I don’t think he finished it. He fell asleep halfway through drawing it. It’s a little hard to tell who’s who.

At first he didn’t sign his name on it, but he’s still new to school; he was homeschooled before this, so I don’t think he ever needed to sign papers with his name before.

What a cute drawing; Chouchou kept on erasing her sketch over and over until she got it just right, and she turned this in to me. I wonder what a wabkins is?

This one is one of my favorites; not a lot of students drew so many of their family members. I don’t think it was meant to be malicious, just taking them for granted. Metal certainly loves his family very much.

Only one student didn’t do the assignment, and we had to send a letter home to her mother (name censored for privacy). It’s a little sad to me, because I find this assignment is always a favorite among students.

“Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your Child, Sarada U█████, did not receive credit today because she did not do her assignment. She spent class time finishing her math homework rather than following the drawing assignment during class time. Please have a discussion with your child on when it is and isn’t appropriate to do homework.”

I am afraid to inform you that although Inojin excelled in this assignment after 10 minutes he finished his work and wandered around class insulting all of the other student’s art. This caused at least 3 other students to cry in which he then refused to apologize. Please have a talk with your student about this behavior. I would also recommend you talk to your student about painting former ninja terrorists.
