#GrimoireChallenge2020 or as I have shortened it in my journal #GC2020 has added some more pages, but just for those out there who ‘don’t know what to log’ in their journals, I gave a “blank page” picture.
This was right after I put the date, time, moon phase & sign, but right before I began journaling about my day (and eventually used like 4 pages). I log the same things for pretty much everything, if it doesn’t have a log of the date and moon phase at the top it’s because I’ve done it on the same day as a previous entry that does have the log.
These are days #23&24, Month and Weather timing. While researching the month timing I found this neat list of what it means when the sun/moon are in the different signs and what to focus my energy on. For pages like this, where I go out and find knowledge that I don’t already know (from amassed and now unknown sources), I write the source at the top of the page under the journal logging info.
August went pretty well in regards to my prompts and getting them done. Some unfinished ones have been added to September and October. September is the third month I am devoting to Astrology this year, since it’s such a big fuckin subject, honestly. There’s the signs, of course, then houses, planets, the geometry in charts, etc.
During some of these prompts I am calling back to other subjects I’ve studied this year. September brings fall, starting with Mabon, it brings our harvest of the year. It’s definitely important for me to harvest some of my knowledge I sowed earlier in the year, test my understanding and continue to delve into those subjects. As well, some of these prompts are basic because I never bother to write down the basics, and you’d think that’d be the first shit I write down in a grimoire but nope!

I didn’t get all my July prompts done, so I’m wrapping that up for now. While July focused on Shadow-work and the mental/psychological shadow, August’s 30DoM is Chakras, a switch to my internal energy flow.
How I see Chakras currently is a specific teaching of energy work; meanwhile, I’ve never really looked into energy work formally, I’ve just done what works for me. I’m not that great at meditating, there’s just a lot of small stuff that I find I falter on with my craft. I’m hoping that learning about Chakras will give me a better understanding of my own energy and especially, how to replenish it after a day of tarot reading.
*Just a reminder for everyone, this is my personal set of “monthlies” to get done that I create for myself and share, some of them this month are obviously personal to me. I share so that others following me can see how I am developing my craft this year, why I’m doing the things I’m doing, and just to kind of help with examples. Keep in mind I’ve got no clue what I’m doing with a lot of these subjects, and in a lot of ways I am a wee witchling/baby witch as well.

I’ve been a bit distracted with the launching of my shop, which honestly, I did on a small bit of a whim and it’s really worked out! I didn’t get a lot of tasks done because of this, though. I also struggled a lot with my anxiety and depression but I feel like I’m on the up and up, which is better than completing a to do list in my opinion.
During September I was doing more Astrology study, and managed to finish a big chunk of my book on Astrology, but not the whole book. I was also working on my personal routine quite a bit, and it’s still rough but it’s been shaping up alright since I started coming out of this dark spot.
What I’ve Accomplished & How I’ve Grown
- I feel a bit more knowledgeable about the zodiac signs as well as the planets. I wish I had read more and studied more, but I still did accomplish something.
- I’m working on finding a method of mindfulness that utilizes my hands; I find peace with crochet and coloring.
- I launched my shop on a New Moon and in a couple weeks it’s Moonaversary will come up. I’ve been devoting a lot of time to that and it feels great to be working, so to speak. I’ve been really worried about my finances, but even the small bit of money I made last week has made a HUGE difference- in both my financial life and my mental health concerning finances.
What Is Still Before Me
- October is my spooktastic month, so again my focus is going to be on Shadow Work and this time I’m dragging my boyfriend along for the ride.
- October also includes plotting my NaNoWriMo, which is the same one I worked on last year and the same one I worked on during July. I’ll be throwing together an outline.
- I’m going to make some writing themed spreads to put up in my Etsy shop for other writers!
- This fucking election, but that’s all us Americans, amiright?
This is my first attempt at a comic. I know it's not the most original idea, but I felt compelled to draw it. It illustrates my actual experience with the movie. I remember trying to sleep after I watched it. I scare very easily. The art came first, and fit the characters really well.
I am also starting to post this stuff to my deviantart. I've only had the account for like 16 years and never posted anything. I tried to steer clear of posting fan art, but fuck it.
I wanted to post this last night, but my former art director/current fiance has started to get really into my fan art. Not that I need his approval, but he's had some really good ideas that helped make this way better. He’s also on the other side of the country for a couple weeks so communication takes longer.
Also, this challenge is a lot of fun and keeping me from experiencing my seasonal depression (I hate summer). I might have to keep it going for a couple more months.
Also, I want to animate something, but what? I feel I need to tell a story every time I make art.
