I know I’ve posted about this before, but because I’m still not over how nightmarish the bistro was, here’s an itemized list of all the hell my fellow employees and I went through:
Wage theft by the front-of-house manager who had filled out my food stamps application and knew that I was eating kitchen scraps to survive
Same manager saw that I was in the middle of eating a dish the kitchen had incorrectly prepared and threw my food away as soon as I left it alone
Chef verbally abused a cook to the point of inducing panic attacks on multiple occasions
FOH manager berated employees in front of customers in such a hostile manner that customers would offer their sympathies to the employees, leave generous tips, and vow to never come back
Chef and FOH manager got into screaming matches, and on one occasion this ended in the FOH manager storming out during lunchtime and abandoning all of her employees for the rest of the day
Possible homo/biphobic discrimination - FOH manager treated me and the other openly gay or bi employees like trash and massively slashed our hours despite us being good at our jobs and well-liked by both customers and our coworkers
Constant understaffing, overworking, and high employee turnover for reasons which should be obvious
