Bosterman - Search and Destroy
Aimlessly, Jetta Osterman walked along a pathway in the quad, steering herself in the direction of Camden Hall. It was dusk and most people were scattering back to their dorms. Jetta's hand tucked into the pocket of her skinny legged jeans, carrying her entire body with little effort. Her mind was a mess, but that was nothing new. As if Sebastian kissing her the other night wasn't confusing enough, Jetta was now over a week late. She tried not to assume the worst but the mere idea of being pregnant was scary, especially when she was well-aware her and Sebastian did not use protection at the Cunningham's party, giving her more reason to worry.
"Jetta," called out a short, mousy brunette a few steps before Jetta. The high pitched voice tore Jetta's attention off her self-involved thoughts and prompted her to turn around. The usual smile she'd fake to whoever spoke to her was no visible, instead a glum expression remaining on her typically unamused face. She didn't say a word, not recognizing the girl in front of her. The girl babbled about the fact they were in the same philosophy lecture earlier that day, proposing the idea that perhaps they could be study partners. This could not sound worse to Jetta. She twitched her left eye slightly, her lips pouting. "I don't do study partners," Jetta spoke in a neutral tone. "Especially not one for philosophy." She didn't move, and instead examined the girl's reaction, waiting for her to leave. "You can probably go now," she advised, shrugging her shoulders and prompting the girl to pass by her in utter silence.
Once the girl moved out of her line of vision, Jetta spotted Sebastian in the near distance. All day, Jetta had been trying to figure out how she was supposed to approach Sebastian and confront him about her fears. It was hard enough having to wake up every morning and tell herself that this boy was no longer hers. At the end of the day though, he was still Sebastian and in her heart she truly wanted to believe that he would be there for her. She untucked her hands from her pockets and mustered up some appropriate level of confidence to start walking over to him. He was alone, which was rare these days because she always tended to see him with either Braxton or Sara by his side.
"Sebastian," she said as she approached him. "Can we talk?" Her voice softened but only showed a small amount of vulnerability. There was the likelihood he'd say no and walk away - he had every reason to. Jetta wasn't going to take no as an acceptable answer, and wrapped her hand around his arm, pulling him to her side. "Look, I don't know how to sugarcoat this, so I'll just come out and say it." She let go of his arm and crossed her arms over her chest, like they'd create some kind of emotionally boundary between Sebastian and her. "I'm quite late. Like, really late." She paused, wanting to let that sink in. "I figured it'd probably be best I let you know in case I am in the p-word with your, uh, b-word." Jetta shifted her body weight from side to side, slightly annoyed at herself for being so insensitive toward Sebastian and how dropping this bomb on him would make him feel. Her being so casual about an incredibly serious issue was an irresponsible coping issue, but it was well-known to both herself and Sebastian that Jetta didn't respond to any form of grief appropriately.
Sebastian/Jetta - A Poignant Undertow Emerges
Sitting up on her single bed, Jetta Osterman overlooked the mess that surrounded the dorm she shared with Noelle Montgomery. She had never imagined her first day of college to go quite like this. In her mind, Jetta had expected to have forced Daniel into bringing her boxes to her room and helping her get settled into the campus. It had been the one thing she was really looking forward to. Now that she was here, part of her felt that everyone would look at her as being the dead boy's younger sister. That seemed to be the worst part of walking down the halls. It didn't seem to help that she was now in the same environment as Belle Roberts and Vince Beaumont on a day-to-day basis.
Curling her arms over her face, Jetta drew in a deep breath, allowing herself to relax. She tugged down her teal tank top, pulling it slightly over her small denim shorts as she reluctantly rolled herself off her mattress. She'd taken up Sebastian's offer to help her with her dorm but the more she found herself around him, the more Jetta wanted to tell him about her infidelities. She wasn't worthy of his affections anymore - he needed to know that, but selfishly, Jetta wanted to withhold the truth. Now more than ever, she desperately needed his unconditional love, fearing she might break without it.
"Sebastian!" Jetta said, perking up from her once dull mood as she saw him standing in the open doorway. Without another word, she ran over to him. In the usual fashion, her arms swung around him and she leant up to greet him with a dainty kiss. Her smile quickly faded, as the kiss only brought back the recollection of locking lips with his brother days earlier. Turning her back to him, Jetta wiped her hand softly across her mouth before brushing a strand of her long brunette hair back. "As you can see," she began to say as she spun around on the heel of her foot. "My room is a total pigsty. Although that may offend pigs."
Look what I've found --
-- the other Beaumont. Are you stalking me, Sebby? Because I do always feel like something is hovering over me and I know it isn't my conscience.
