You have been invited to Issa Anderson’s House Warming & 25th Birthday Combo Party, hosted by Issa in her Back Bay Apartment. Plus ones are welcomed and encouraged - all the more fun. Enjoy the party!
DATES & TIME AND MORE
We’re not going to ask you to put your current threads on hold, but between June 14th - June 18th, all starters must be event-related.
The event will start at June 14th (Thursday) and will end at 8pm EST on June 18th (Monday).
The event will last for FOUR days so as to give everyone a chance to join and put their two cents in. In character, the event will take place on the evening of the 16th (Saturday Night).
Please try not to post any starters before the event! A post will be made to indicate the start of the event. The starter rule will still apply for the event. If there are more than one event-related starters under the tag, DON’T FORGET to reply to them before posting your own!
PLEASE LIKE THIS POST IF YOUR CHARACTER IS GOING TO ATTEND.
PLOTTING
Feel free to begin plotting amongst yourselves. You can even make three-way paras and triple the fun.
All major plots must be approved by the admins! This includes accidents / injuries / illegal activities. Do these plots, honestly, we’d love to see different things on the dash — just ask us first! Engaging in a plot which is considered major without permission will result in us asking you to delete those interactions and any starters related to it.
Use this event to approach members you haven’t roleplayed before. This would be a great excuse to form new connections.
Your character doesn’t have to know Issa personally, however they can be dragged to the party by their own friends. These people can be NPC or mutual friends, it’s up to you. Issa probably invited everyone she’s made the smallest of small talks with in the past few weeks, not to mention made flyers to put up.
If you don’t want your character to attend the party, please don’t forget that the activity rules still apply. Meaning; don’t use your character’s absence as an opportunity to bubble rp.
We always encourage in character drama. This party would be a great opportunity for random hook ups, confrontations, drunk mistakes and many other possibilities that we can’t think of right now.

With another year gone and a new one beginning, we're so grateful to be able to call this roleplay home, especially for us as admins and for all of our players. This is one of the most active, creative, and inclusive roleplays we have ever had the pleasure of running and we have no plans of stopping this amazing environment anytime soon. That being said, we need to address some issues within the group that has been going on for a little longer than we'd like to admit. This post will be formatted into sections to address each issue appropriately, and we ask that each of you read everything below the cut carefully. When you are finished reading, we also ask that you take the time to ask yourself if you're willing and able to comply with our rules and what we are aiming to accomplish for the new year. Please like this post once you have finished reading so we can see that it reaches everyone.
Multiple Characters
With the new year, we have decided to remove the gender ban on multiple characters. However, any player wishing to bring in a third character must first get approval from the admins. Approval will be based on the player's ability to be consistent on each character, and if we as admins feel this is not being met, you will be denied or asked to drop.
Acceptances
Every second and last Sunday of the month, the roleplay will only allow outside members to apply. This allows us to gain new members and keep things fresh in the roleplay.
Bubble Roleplaying
To put it frankly, Boston is a group roleplay. It is not a multi-muse or a 1x1 indie blog. We understand that it's easy to bubble roleplay with your friends and your connections. We are naturally drawn to other people who have similar personalities, sense of humor, and/or values. With that in mind, bubble roleplaying can’t ever be fully eradicated, but we should all be aware of bubble roleplaying and making an extra effort to not be the person doing it. It’s our responsibility to reply to all starters, approach new people and make new connections, and keep all threads going. We monitor every blog and some of you virtually only reply to one person for days without even bothering to reply to starters, or you'll reply to starters but never keep the thread going. This behavior is not acceptable in a group roleplay. In a group, you are RESPONSIBLE to reply to people. Replying to romance/close friendship threads only and ignoring other threads is not acceptable. We get it, ships and brotps are fun to write but how are you guys going to make new connections if you don’t reply to new characters? Group roleplays mean new possibilities, new connections, and you certainly can’t achieve that by replying to only a few characters all the time.
Long story short, if you don’t reply to at least 3 starters frequently, keep your threads going, and approach new people for plots you will be removed from the group. Replying to one starter and only talking to one person is not going to be tolerated.
Dropping Threads
We understand that sometimes your muse isn't always there for certain threads, it's happened to all of us at least a handful of times in our roleplaying careers. However, consistently replying to starters and dropping threads will no longer be tolerated or counted as activity. If you do feel the need to drop a thread, please inform the other player to prevent any confusion. Also, do not be afraid to ask the other player if they missed your reply. We've all had it happen to us, and we all know that it feels like our characters are being ignored, so we are asking everyone to work together on this issue. It's not about replying to starters, it's about keeping threads. Otherwise, you might gain a reputation where others think there is no use in replying to you because you will just drop the reply. Again, there is nothing wrong with losing muse, but using it as an excuse to drop replies and only reply to your ship/friendships will result in you being asked to leave the roleplay.
Sloppy Replies
There’s another issue we have here, and that is sloppy replies. Giving sloppy replies is not acceptable. Don’t think we don’t see this behavior. It's very, very discouraging to see one character giving yours nothing to work with, yet writing plenty for a potential ship or friendship. If you are not going to put the same amount of effort into all of your replies, maybe this roleplay is not the right place for you.
Spotty Activity
If you only get on once in every four days, do some replies and then leave again, you’ll be removed from the group as well. We have limited spots available, and it’s not fair to potential new members who want to join the roleplay.
Hiatus's will not be used as an excuse to only reply to certain threads. If you choose to take a hiatus and be active at the same time, then you will still be held accountable for your actions.
Again, Boston is such an enjoyable escape for all us from the real world. We have loved getting to know the people (IC & OOC). With your cooperation, effort, and love, we're excited to see what the new year has in store for all of us.
First of all we would like to thank you for participating the event, we think it has been a great success. You can continue replying to threads involving the event if you wish, but regular starters are allowed to be posted. The time we’ve been waiting for has finally come. It is our utmost pleasure to announce your Annual New Years Eve Party King and Queen! You voted – we counted, and these are the results!
First of all, forgive us not posting this post on Boston’s actual birthday which is 12.12.2016. But better late than never, right? We have officially been open for a year as of today. A year ago, we decided to provide an environment where people can explore and develop their characters without worrying if admins are gonna flake or not. As you guys may have noticed, it’s very rare to keep an RP open longer than six months in these days. Bostonma RPG is a combination of hard work (from members and writers) and good luck. We believe a RP is nothing without its writers, we try to make you guys feel included as much as possible. It really doesn’t matter how long your time here -- long or short, we are so happy to have you guys as our members. We would like think Boston as a huge family where everybody is comfortable enough to approach other and admins. Don’t forget, we are always open to new ideas from our members, feel free to send us anything without hesitation!
Thank you for all the support and dedication you guys put in this RP. We are truly grateful.
Hello players! We’d just like to give a little refresher to our members, new and old, on our rules. If you haven’t already, please look over the guidelines here, but more importantly, we want to emphasize one in particular: Reply to starters before posting your own (at least 3 starters, preferably with less than 20 notes). Sometimes we all get a little excited and caught up with our own ideas, so we ask that everyone extend the same courtesy to others. Thank you!
You are cordially summoned to join Boston's spookiest demons, demons and the lost ones in between as we delve into the opulent world of incomparable hedonistic revelry at its finest. Deep within the inner sanctums of Boston’s scariest, oldest mansion (seriously there are rumours and ghost stories), an event that will surely be the talk and toast of our city. Lose yourself surrounded by decadent debauchery, hellfire energy and sinful escapades.
The venue’s decor has been described as “Victorian Gothic,” and it even has a run way that goes down the entire house, so you’re gonna want to make sure that you come up with the best costume you can! Who knows, you may even take home the $1000 cash prize for best costume! $500 for second place, $250 for third.
Highlights include:
* Trick or Treat! Complimentary drinks from 9pm-11pm
* Live Performance by a DJ's spinning sets
* Costume Contest with Cash Prizes For Best Costumes
COSTUME COMPETION
ALL CHARACTERS MUST WEAR COSTUMES. We are going to hold a competition for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of best costume. You must tag the photo and description of your character’s costume under #bostonhalloweencontest. We will then put into a random generator, which means the result won’t be biased.

First off, we would like to thank you guys for all the interest and dedication you have shown Boston since we opened last December. We are so happy to have you guys in Boston devoting your time to this roleplay and your characters.
However, we have some issues that we would like to address. Underneath the cut is an important post which we ask everyone read thoroughly. The post has been formatted into sections because it is long, but the information contained below is vital to the continuation of the roleplay.
Like this post once you have read it.
Starters
There are many issues we are facing with starters. For too long, players have been ignoring or neglecting to check the starter tag. This is not excusable behaviour in a group setting. The starter tag should be checked frequently and recent starters responded to, making special effort to branch out to new characters and not solely those that are friends and connections of your character. This is not something that should need a reminder!
The starter rules are clearly outlined in our rules, and in our welcome message to new players, so ignorance is not an excuse. If you ever need a refresher, we suggest you read up on them again.
Make your starters easy to answer. Avoid posting a starter with your character in their home, or assuming a character has done something to yours — this may not be godmodding, but it /is/ forcing a connection or action on them and not something most players will abide. Take the effort to make your starter easier to reply to and save the highly specific situations for private threads.
Dropping Replies
Dropping replies is another major issue in Boston. We have discussed this issue in the past, but unfortunately not much has changed since our last post. We have been receiving complaints about members dropping threads after 2 - 3 replies to focus on their plotted threads. This is unacceptable behaviour. Sometimes a thread will be going nowhere, or feel like a chore to respond to, and this is an understandable situation. But if you wish to drop a thread, it is your responsibility and common courtesy to inform the other player you are planning to do so, and we encourage you to start or form a new thread with that player. Players who continue to drop replies on a frequent and large scale risk developing a reputation wherein other players may not wish to interact with them, and this is off-putting for everybody, especially new players. This behaviour is not acceptable in group roleplay, and it is most certainly not acceptable in Boston. In a group setting, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to answer and keep up threads with many and varied players. If this is too much for you to handle, then we kindly suggest indie or 1x1, where you can focus on your ships and connections all you want without the hassle of welcoming new players or keeping up threads with non-connection characters. The continued and frequent dropping of threads by a player will mean their removal from the group.
General
When new members come in and make OOC introduction posts, reply to them, message them privately, plot with them. Make the effort on your part to make them feel welcomed!
Make the effort to start at least one new plot on every character you play, with a character you aren’t close to or haven’t met yet. Jump into a new friendship with them or get into a fight, we don’t care what it is, but force yourself out of your bubble and make new connections. If you play a shy or antisocial character, find a way to incorporate that into your new plot. There are no excuses.
