This morning’s boat took an unusual route in the Outer Harbor. It bypassed The Narrows for Nubble Channel and passed south of Nix’s Mate, Gallops, and Georges Islands and then swung relatively close to Boston Light. #bostonharbor #bostonlight #nixsmate #georgesisland #gallopsisland (at Boston Light) https://www.instagram.com/p/BoEgsn1nOXJ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1qczxksrk9y69

The Light Shines Bright!
Sorry my loyal followers, I have not posted in a while! It is the year 1716, and my oh my, is it a lonely life being 46, with no friends around to pass time with. I remember the old days, goofing around at the tavern, having a hanky-panky time with my lads and drinking it up. Now, I am afraid that I am the only one left, for all of my friends have passed away. I have been a lot less busy in this recent year, for my children have been very mature - helping out with the crops, taking care of the house, that sort. Ha! Even my young Phillip (or was it John, I always mix them up) is now working at the Custom House down in Boston! He is making quite the dough.
Speaking of Boston, I just recently went to visit my son, and during my stay, I witnessed quite a historical event. As I was strolling at the time of dusk, I went down by the harbor, and saw a magnificent structure gleaming in the sunset. After asking the people nearby, I learned that it was called “The Boston Light”, and is the first lighthouse to be built in America. How fantastic!
The nation’s oldest light house, Boston Light is 300 years old today. It was located on Little Brewster Island, at the entrance to Boston, Massachusetts. The treacherous rocks surrounding the harbor had wrecked many ships. Before the lighthouse was built “wreckers” lit false signal fires in the wrong places to lure ships aground to be plundered. The original lighthouse was burned down by the British in 1776, but was rebuilt in 1783. It is the last remaining manned lighthouse in the United States. This pen & ink of a “Transit Tower” shows a structure similar to a lighthouse. It is the transit point between our world and the world Gnemo travels to. The lights in the tower help guide in passing airships, and acts as a mooring mast. The structure itself has been rebuilt many times after being damaged. It is always rebuilt in the same design, to honor the memory of the first structure. #tomkidd #gnemo #bostonlight
