My BOSTON MARATHON race experience on the blog (link in profile). And the questionable decision I made immediately following the race... #boston2016 #bostonmarathon #bostonmarathon2016 #runbold #instarunners #womensrunningcommunity #run
Passing my best friends and entering Boston... such an awesome moment on that course yesterday. 💙💛💙💛 I'll admit though, there were some not-so-awesome moments too... sometimes you just can't control how your legs are feeling, let the heat get to you, and have to dial it back and survive. And oh did it get to me, physically and mentally in the first half. By mile 7 my legs were already cramping and I was eagerly gulping fluids. But it is so hard to feel down on that course! I'm so thankful for the supporters all along the way. Mile 8-11 I was disheartened, but the Wellesly girls brought me back to life and helped me remember I was there to experience Boston. So I allowed myself to take it all in. And I am so happy I did. Took in Gatorade like a mother f, even took ice pops. But really, I took in the crowd, mile by mile. I listened for people yelling my name and used every cheer as motivation. I ran for those who couldn't, & kept moving when I couldn't run (hi, #heartbreakhill). I accepted encouragement from other runners, and passed it along to others. I kept moving, knowing my friends were ahead on the course. It was a tough day for so many, but it's almost comforting to know it was tough across the board because it's just another unifying part of running the 2016 Boston Marathon. We won't be broken. We finished. And even though I turned left onto Boylston with completely different emotions than I expected, my finish was still as overwhelmingly exciting as my first Boston Marathon could ever be. 3:53 wasn't close to what I was shooting for, but it was hard earned. Thankful for this experience and for every person who was proud of me through the toughest training cycle and race I have been through. And even though I swore off marathons, I'm sure I can say... on to the next one 💙💛💙💛 #BostonMarathon#WearBlueRunToRemember#BostonMarathon2016#RunBold (at The Boston Marathon)
Goodbye to an incredible city, a special race, and an unforgettable experience. 17 months ago I qualified, 5 months ago I trained for a PR to get into a higher wave, and yesterday my goal and dream finally came true. It feels like a chapter is closing although I know my story is far from finished. I am excited for more goals, races, dreams, and to see what's next in this journey of mine... #boston2016 #bostonmarathon2016 #bostonmarathon #runbold
The most incredible, indescribable experience. Just lost it as I turned the corner onto Boylston and saw the finish line. I could not believe I was actually running in the Boston Marathon. I am so grateful for all the sweet comments and for cheering me on throughout not only this race, but the entire journey to get here. Never would I have thought I'd be here today and I am so deeply thankful. (Finish time - 3:41:54) #boston2016 #bostonmarathon2016 #bostonmarathon #runbold
