Family : Proteaceae  

Common Names : King protea / Bot River protea

A long time species held close to my heart. Majestic is a fair description, and fitting too with it's common name. A natural habitat in a small region of the south western Cape Province of South Africa, they like to grow close together in order to prop up one an-others stems which is a sweet detail. They last for an age, can be dried to still look amazing, I need not say more.

Botanical Name : Hibiscus 'Suva Queen'

Family : Malvaceae  

Common Names : Hibiscus

This stunning specimen is a Fijian hybrid. I am yet to find the proper botanical name but there is a very long list of Hibiscus species and seeing as this is a hybrid, the list would be even longer! It is grown commonly in New Zealand of up to heights of 1.5m with evergreen leaves which have a defined jagged edge. It certainly harks back to it's home in appearance, as when I look at it, I just think sea, sand and sun. Alas Autumn is upon us but on the up side, that means bringing out the nice leather boots.

I’ve let myself off the hook today as I have been far too excited to get some pictures back from my RAD friends wedding that I took part in last month in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. These guys are bloody amazing, so chilled, so cool and I one of them is Scottish so it can’t get much better than that. They’ve become great friends since the Good Man and I moved over here and in fact, Meg will be making our wedding cake which is only too fitting seeing as I did her flowers. Meg's dress is by Rue De Seine and the bridesmaids by Kowtow.... too effing cool.
