Hi, I was at circus world in my area when I saw they had murals of these characters around the place. Curiosity got the best of me and I found out that they used to have animatronics, and that you had pictures of them in Hendersonville, (my town) And I was wondering if you know when they got removed, why, and where they use to be. I know its a shot in the dark to ask a stranger but no harm in trying.

hi sorry its been like a year omg i just saw this! i don't know fully but this is what i could find/already know,, Circus World Pizza restaurants used to have an animatronic band called Circus World Jamboree, produced in the early 1990s by Advanced Animations (in Vermont!). 8 Sets were produced for multiple Circus World Pizza locations. When the restaurants shutdown/removed them, Advanced Animations repurchased four of the animatronic shows to resell them to other entertainment venues. afaik Hendersonville circus world's set was sold to Guntown Mountain amusement park, then when they closed, moved again. i think they're owned by a private collector now? not sure :( PS you're probably gonna hear about The Circus Playhouse Band while researching this. That is a completely different band with a very similar name & theme lol

Oh god! It's all just barely glorified chatbots! How is that comparable to aibos?!

I seriously despise seeing all the 'aibo alternatives' just being chatgpt stuck into a hunk of plastic with some small motion and a LED face to express emotion because its body motion is so limited and often dull! That is not at all comfortable to any aibo models! Like most aibo models have multiple eye expressions, yes, but their sounds and even body language also are used to express emotions!

Those alternatives will be an expensive dumb brick when they become irrelevant to the company or the company shuts down but guess what! Aibos will still be kicking! Because they dont require being connected online to some huge company computer. Even the ERS-1000s, while they have advantages to being connected with a plan, they still work just splendid without a plan!

It's not cool your robot speaks to you in that cold lifeless ai voice trying to sound cute but just comes off as irritating. An aibos beeps and boops are way more charming.

Wanna make an aibo alternative? Make it work offline, keep away from generative ai, and oh maybe make the leg joints sturdier because thats an actual issue all aibos especially seemingly with the newest model.
