Washerwoman: Favorite Townie that's an interesting one for me since I've always been more of an Outsider cat myself. Probably gonna go with Knight or really most first night info roles where you can reasonably keep your pings secret, but I think Knight benefits the most from it. Being first night info also lets me play to my strengths, by giving me the space to mostly just play a social game and lie in a way that benefits good.
Baron: You'd think I'd be more prepared for this question with how often I pull Evil tokens, but I don't really get a chance to play wild since I'm usually a prime suspect. Third time I mention Evil Twin in this ask game but it has to be an S&V Evil Twin game I had, my Good Twin was the Juggler a choice that left me groaning because Juggler is such a hard twin to have I also neighbor the Juggler they're on my left, my demon is two seats to my right. Storytime bellow the cut.
Day 1 starts and I am not looking forward to this game day starts as usual for evil twin.
Me(Evil twin): Hey I'm the Juggler my neighbor is the Evil Twin
Neighbor(Juggler): No I'm the Juggler and Atlas is the Evil twin
So I continue my day trying to get as much social trust as I can in private chats by just kinda being like: "Look I want you to hardclaim to me cause I need hardclaims for my role to be useful but like 50% chance I'm evil from your perspective so I understand you not wanting to."
I also learn that my Evil team is a No-Dashi and a Cerenovus this will come up later.
Day is going unproductive until I talk to the Sage they have a funny little scheme they offer to give me a role as long as I only juggle them and myself and then report back with the number first thing tomorrow. I have to agree because the social trust that agreeing to the scheme first gives me could be game winning as long as I guess correctly. After agreeing they claim Sage to me and say they'll go talk to my twin about it as well, the good player is obviously going to agree as well since this seems like an easy way to out me as the Evil Twin.
That day phase both myself and my twin juggle the Sage as the roles we were given. After some conversation execute my rightmost neighbor, the person sat between me and the No-Dashi after the axe falls and they die. They claim Mutant and I cannot believe my luck because that means my Good Twin is Poisoned. I now am in a no-lose situation, because if I guess correctly and my twin gets wrong info I just push for them to be executed now and not have the evil vote in the game, and if I guess wrong I currently feel like I'm leading the social trust race between the two of us and can just wait it out until town decides it's time to deal with the twin pair.
Dawn of the second day. I instantly tell the Sage my made up information and leave hoping that my promptness makes me seem good my guess is wrong I thought I was given a fake role but they really were the Sage but my poisoned good twin also gives wrong information. Chatter around town however shows that trust is looking decidedly in my favor, and to make sure it stays that way I join in on game solving efforts gently nudging town towards executing my already suspicious evil team my good twin of course does this as well. Making it strangely difficult to get the votes to put the Cerenovus on the block, but thank the gods we managed it and they are executed.
Day 3 tehehe. The Dreamer is absolutely convinced they are poisoned. I mean they're right of course, they are sitting next to the No-Dashi but I'm starting to get nervous again because while I lead the trust race it could easily be sussed out that I'm the evil twin because of the No-Dashi poisoning passing through me and onto the Good Twin. Both myself and the Good Twin push for the execution of the No-Dashi since they're like one of two remaining demon candidates and town has like 3 executions left so we are totally banking on my win condition now. It's far easier to get my Demon executed than it was to get my fellow Minion executed.
This is it, do or die. The Dreamer picks me and learns Juggler and Evil Twin confirming they're no longer poisoned and that along side the lack of night kill confirms that the Demon is dead. But town are scared of a Witch possibly still being in play. (I don't know why they were scared of this, witch couldn't have ended the game.) I chime in with "Just let me and my twin nominate each other they wouldn't witch curse either of us." Town ultimately decides that I have seemed more good over the course of the game than my twin has and they totally miss the world where the No-Dashi poison is skipping both the mutant and me to end up on my Twin, I almost bring that world up but decide to not get myself killed at the last possible moment. The town executes the good twin and with the entire rest of evil team dead Evil wins the game.
I do not feel like I should have won that game, I should have died d2. I shouldn't have agreed to the Sage's plan in the first place. It was an unhinged play that shouldn't have worked but somehow was game winning.
Drunk: Already answered, but I'll go into a bit more depth about what I like about Outsiders in general. I prefer Outsiders that, for lack of a better word, "do things": this doesn't necessarily mean "have a Townsfolk ability" but I like Outsiders which do more than just sit around and claim. The Butler has to find a good master and can make judgements based on that. The Hatter has to try their damndest to not die when evil wants them dead. The Occultist must spout inventive nonsense each day, but actually learns something once and has to convince town that it's not just the madness speaking.
Baron: Having trouble thinking of one at the minute. Off the top of my head, I can think of a game of Star Pass All Stars I ran about a year ago, where the Fang Gu barber-swapped the Widow with the puzzledrunk Gossip, creating a puzzledrunk good Widow and an evil Gossip who killed the Puzzlemaster. Evil somehow still won despite everything.
Washerwoman: Nowadays, I honestly prefer the Townsfolk that don't have a ton of personal responsibility attached (instead of the super info-solvey ones like Savant). YSK roles are my favorite - Investigator, Chef, and Grandmother are awesome.
FT: Does "holding Lil' Monsta" count? If I have an escape plan, I'll be way more comfortable. However, I've also got a love for the Pukka and Shabaloth — when they pop off, they pop off, and they have a ton of strategic complexity to them.
There are so many scripts that I want to run, and at the same time not enough. I have a lot of my script-a-day lineup for the next couple posts solid, but a lot of those don't have stable states (e.g. Friendly Invitations) or have characters that I don't feel comfortable with running in public online lobbies (Wizard is the big one) or are weird for a secret third reason (like being bad and not good once I run it). Who knew that making unique, fun, and good scripts was difficult?
Spy: I don't tend to spectate on the official app much, but I usually ask for the Grimoire if I do. I like Storytelling more than I like playing to begin with, so getting a peek behind the curtain helps me get a bit closer to the ST! (Plus, I've caught a couple mistakes that way, too.)
Saint: Toughie! I'm a fan of the Alsaahir, because it's incredibly fun to actually pull off an Alsaahir win (and fun to lose to it, too!), but there's something to be said about the Damsel in just how script-warping it is.
Imp: fastest evil win, so supposed to be last game of the night and I get dealt the Riot token right and i'm sitting here like "fuuuccccckkk dude I don't wanna be evil again tonight" my minion and I have a chat start of d1 and they're a boomdandy and are planning on claiming Lunatic to get themself executed. Town has a lotta information clearing different people but nothing actionable so my glorious boomdandy gets executed leaving me and two unconfirmed players alive. Ultimately town decides to kill the Steward claim and evil wins with a d1 re-rack.
Investigator: Moving quickly along to my fastest good win? I uhhhhhh,,,, I actually dont have any particularly fast good wins. I'm usually on the other end of quick good wins, I think i'm the most D1 slayer shot player in our group... Like I'm our playgroups Raqio in the sense of if there's nothing actionable or anything confirming me and someone nominates me I tend to just get executed. I choose to take it as a compliment though.
I mean there are a couple of like whalebucket teensies where I did stupid shit as a Cult leader and we had a d1 good win but like that barely counts. It's whalebucket teensies while waiting for late players.
Scarlet Woman was one of the first ones fired at me so my reasoning was kinda brief. I'll do it again but properly this time.
Favorite demon is hands down Fang-Gu and I guess that's not the most surprising coming from the self proclaimed "Outsider cat", but having a Fang-Gu even just on script fundamentally changes how every outsider on script plays, they all gain the hidden outsider subtype in addition to their other subtypes because if you're holding a light blue token of any sort you cannot be sure it is safe for you to hardclaim... I REALLY should make the "Atlas' theory of outsiders" post to explain what I mean about outsider subtypes.
The Fang-Gu themself also has a lot of interesting plays they can make, not just by jumping but by actively not jumping. Being one of the only Demons that can jump to a Good player makes faking a jump a very valid tactic when you can pull it off. If an outsider is being loud and playing chicken with you kill a demon candidate and try to convince town that was a jump to the outsider claim a few days later.
I'm also a big advocate for only jumping when you need to and holding it for as long as you can. A player that knows they're good will almost always socially read better than a player that sees a red token. Leaving as many of the outsiders alive as you can to be possible escape hatches lets you choose whoever would make the best demon at any given moment when it's finally time to bail out.
From the ST side of things Fang-Gu is simple but I like my demons simple, I usually have enough to deal with via whatever nonsense the town is up to and figuring out what to do with the drosioned players besides I will always take any excuse to toss an outsider in a bag.
just realized someone already asked you about the Empath — how about the Soldier?
Soldier: most and least complicated role huh? Since its solo I'll do one good one evil for each.
Good roles
I think the most complicated good role probably has to be Amnesiac even with a guessable ability there's a chance you just run in a totally wrong direction with your guesses at your ability and never find it. Even from the ST perspective making a good Amnesiac ability is also quite a complicated thing, having to balance effectiveness, how guessable the ability is and making sure the ability doesn't just confirm the Amnesiac outright. I run a lot of "this is not my beautiful house" so I have a lot of opinions about both the Amnesiac and Outsiders I should probably do a writeup on a few of my abilities i've done on that script.
Least complicated good role hmmm I think I'm gonna go with Snitch you exist and because you exist, the minions have bluffs you have no ability beyond that you are effectively a good player without an ability or any effect on the game. Because i find 9 times out of 10, even if it's poppygrower or lil monsta the minions do perfectly fine fending for themselves without bluffs.
EVIL ROLES MWAHAHAHA
Most complex evil team member I mean is there any choice other than Wizard? I as a relatively new ST fear to even run this monster. But denying myself the obvious choice of Wizard I'm going to go with Evil Twin a lot goes into both running an Evil Twin and playing as the Evil Twin and I honestly think it gets a bad rap a lot of the time. From the player perspective your entire gameplan is different from any other member of the evil team with your goals being to get your good twin executed by out social trusting them. This puts you in an interesting position because you can sell your own Demon down the river and still win the game for your team, you as an Evil Twin have a lot of choices to make about how you want to play things. From the ST side of the grim running an Evil Twin is interesting, because I at least generally try to force the good team to need to talk to the Twin pair by placing information roles or roles I would consider vital to the good team's success as the Good Twin. The complex thing is the information that the Good Twin is able to provide should also generally be bluffable by the Evil Twin making Good Twin selection it's own bag by bag script by script puzzle as an ST.
Least complex evil role? Sorry not sorry but Baron adding two outsiders is fun from the ST side of the grim but in most scripts from the ST side of the grim I'd rather have a Godfather on script, gives me as an ST more options with the +1 or -1 and gives the player who pulls the token more to do. Like Snitch, Baron is another character that just sort of does a thing at setup and then that's it. You just exist and are evil. I just sort of find those characters to be generally simple and uninteresting.
