What is it that you desire, my dear friend?
Karkat and Terezi being an engaged couple who have known each other since forever and have enrolled into the same institution and obviously ended up as dorm neighbours, helping each other with whatever bullshit they run into?
Karkat examining weird and incomprehensible cases Terezi chucks at him and finding ways to reinterpret them as to make them look as something a human being could reasonably approach and resolve in the way it was done, thanks to his acuity when it comes to understanding how and why people see each other the way they do?
Terezi helping Karkat with digging into others’ minds, making it more clear to him as to how approach a difficult speaker or apply pressure just right to make them cave in, or finding a way to phrase an argument just right to ensure it has the intended effect on whoever needs to be impressed or coerced?
You wouldn’t know most of that about them, though. Sure, Karkat runs a channel dedicated to romcoms and sometimes you can hear his “roommate’s” voice when he’s busy dissecting another weaksauce film with ire you’d expect from a rantsona he somehow lacks, and sometimes you’d spot a person in a gray sweater making sandwiches while Terezi is busy committing a crime against fine arts on the canvas right in front of the people who follow hers.
Sometimes you can catch - yet, usually, not recognize - them in public, walking hand in hand, cooing about whatever development has happened on campus. Sometimes you find them in the college’s cafeteria, cheering on their friends’ stupid antics. Sometimes one of them can be spotted walking through the halls, the matching zodiac necklaces put over the clotes, shining under the lamps.
The fact that they’re a couple could have be their own. Why would it be any of your business, anyway? As far as you could have been concerned, they’re just cheery and barely separable roommates. Perhaps you’ve glimpsed what else they are, or might be. Do they love each other? Sure! How couldn’t they? They have been integral to each others’ lives for a long time, weaving themselves through their skeins of the daily rhythms. Does anyone else really need to know? Sure, why not?
Karkat may be very vocal about how much he adores the short, chubby law student who chews on wax crayons while discussing the reasons for the bullshit precedent which led to this mess of a clarification, and so may be Terezi about the just-as-short crabby wordsmith aiming to become the PR wizard. Or they may not. It depends on when and with whom you glimpse them living their lives. They have friends they’re quite open with, but otherwise you wouldn’t expect them to talk about themselves at all. Growing in closed circles and barely having people you care to talk to sometimes does that to you, I reckon
You’d probably expect there to be conflict, but why the fuck does there need to be a conflict? Is it not enough for a loving, caring and mutually supportive relationship to exist the way it is to be worth observation?
Also they’ve ran out of groceries and someone will have to remedy that and this is the extent of conflict that really has to happen.
