I've been reading your comics for a few years now, despite only just getting a Tumblr account myself. Café Cardamari and now Bottled Up have gotten me through some really tough times and I'm really grateful that you do what you do. Your art has inspired me so much!! From me and all the other people who love your work but can't respond or like or comment, I'd like to say a massive "thank you".

Another BUG dress based on @sonftgoku‘s head canon. Six hours on stream lets goooo

For Tetrox I chose Vespamantoida Wherleyi, a species of preying mantis (did you know it was only discovered in 2013?). I needed something red to match with Arnick cough cough and while searching for a picture of a different mantis Iya sent me, I found this guy. It worked out pretty damn well, because vespamantoida mimic wasps (something else relevant to her head canon)!

This type of Mantis isn’t very assuming to begin with, so I kept the dress petty simple without too much noticeable influence from the bug it’s based on. Couldn’t resist giving it that slit and the sparkle top thought — it’s very Tetrox.

@sonftgoku introduced me to her big brained idea of bup fashion being based around bugs (bc of nectar n the goddess with her bee dress) and it slaps so hard!! She brainstormed a few ideas and I finally got motivated enough to draw something (i love it sooo much omggg) So here we have Cyanthia, her dress based off an emperor scorpion as seen under black light (seriously, look it up, it’s so sick). I took some liberties with the colors, since she looks better in cyan, but I think I captured the essence of the scorpion pretty well.

I hope to do some more (at least toxink, bc you know me 👀) bc this head canon rocks

BUG. AAAAA.

Ok Arnick as a Black widow (specifically the iconic female black widow color and pattern ofc) I had set in stone from the beginning. Iya and I messed around with calling hims a cockroach (which is fitting, but NOT GOOD FOR FASHION!!!) but a black widow was more accurate. Y’know, poisonous (well, venomous) and scary. Traditionally black widows are associated with woman but i’m bi so i do what i want. This outfit was supposed to have more kinda feminine elements to go with bc i think it could really work for Arnick but I had trouble pulling it off so i abandoned those ideas.

This took me a few days to finish bc it’s my first time really drawing a dude. I worked for sever hours sculpting (YEAH, LIKE HOW YOU NORMALLY DO FOR PAINTINGS) the sketch, and several days suck on the line art. for design i kept the colors simple and used the accent red sparingly to really make it pop, as it does on the black widows. I used the a spider web as well as a broach as the main center piece for the suit. I suppose this outfit is he’s more matching WITH the spider rather than replicating it, but oh well :’D. 

This is all from me for the BUG outfits for now, but ill probably still brainstorm with @sonftgoku about ideas and maybe revisit this soon. In the mean time, if you have any BUG idea let me or iya know bc we LOOOVE this concept
