Castiel has never been human. He has always walked through time and space, never sparing a moment to become involved with humans- they are small blips on his radar, blurs of brown. When he missteps as he tries to take a picture from the Statue of Liberty's crown, and winds up taking a picture of a Biggerson's restaurant, his entire world changes. Castiel sees a man in that picture, and his rule to avoid humanity begins to disintegrate as the search for the man in the picture consumes him. He no longer explores distant lands and impossible places, instead he visits restaurant after restaurant, searching for the man in the photograph. Every Biggerson's is exactly the same, and the sure-footed time traveler begins to feel lost for the first time.
