Which character(s) from books/movie/tv do you identify with most? and why? Share as many or as few as you'd like.
Okaaaay. Well..the only books that are fresh in my mind right now are the Wheel of Time books. The only shows that are fresh in my mind right now are KIND of GoT just because everyone talks about them...so I guess it's actually the books in my head. Movie, nothing is coming to mind.Easiest: GoT. At one point of my life or another I identified with both John Snow and Arya Stark. Each are sort of thrust into a situation beyond their control (and I can't spoil Arya's for you baha) and they have to do their best to carry on in spite of adversity.
Wheel of Time: These books have soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many characters. I just googled it and apparently there are 2782 named characters in the series. There are also unnamed characters. Seriously. Oh and apparently it's like the 6th longest work of fiction in existence? The audiobook is like 460 hours long...
But ANYWAYS (Major spoilers for anyone who hasn't read the books and wants to..look away now)
The three MAIN characters..who stand a little bit above the OTHER main characters are three youngish men named Rand, Perrin, and Matt. Rand is your archetypical farmboy turned warrior/king/magician/strongestpersonever etc. Perrin is a village blacksmith turned leader. He can also eventually talk with wolves and has their senses(long story). Mat is the son of a horse trader and self proclaimed gambler. He dies and comes back with a kickass weapon, supernatural luck, and the memories of thousands of long dead military geniuses(long story)
Now, the thing about a series this long is that it can devote a LOTTT of time to character development...and while the female characters are pretty static for a long time, the males evolve a lot.
I personally don't see much of myself in Rand..in my opinion he's the worst written male character and at least so far as I've read thus far (other than the very very end of what I've read so far) he turns into a heartless bastard (it makes sense in context).
I see myself in Perrin because he grew up larger than most of his peers and had to take special care not to injure them. So, he grew up never letting himself lose his temper, and thinking things through before he lets himself do anything. This isn't a perfect representation of myself but it's close in a lot of respects.
Matt is another character I see myself in. He has a rough exterior. Pretty much all main character women in the series see him as a rouge(not really me) but most of the men and the minor women characters see that he's deeper than that. In character, he never breaks his word. (freaking female characters force him to their will with this actually) He's also shown to be very honorable, even when he really REALLY doesn't want to do something he always ends up doing what is right, even at great personal risk. (He just complains a lot about it)
It also helps that in my opinion Matt has the most kickass character and personal story haha. He has a kickass spear-sword (asherandei) , is supernaturally lucky (he makes fortunes in taverns at dice), and has the tactical and strategic knowledge of their histories greatest generals.
Sooo yeah. Thats what comes to mind.
Christ I could talk about those books so freaking much..
