Easter gifts - why teaching children to give is such a precious gift!
Giving in a general sense, is a really difficult skill for a preschooler to master, especially when they're in the midst of the toddler "mine" stage. Giving however is also one of the most precious things we can try to bring into our and their daily lives. It's been proven that the bubbly lovely feeling we get when someone appreciates something we do for them is one of the biggest confidence boosters about, and those same endorphins are the little beauties that keep our 'happy balance' happy. Selflessness in its simplest form would be termed as sharing. But we think there's a bit more too it than that. We all want our kids to be recognised as "nice" right? So here's some top tips to make giving easy for your little one that cost little or nothing: - Note writing, giving hand written notes to people generally makes them feel great, and if they're too small maybe a drawing / scribble or a handprint or footprint. - Charity shop sort out, clear out the old toys and encourage your child to be the one to hand them over to your local charity shop or clothes bank - Pass it forward, clear out the things they don't need and actively encourage them to pass them on to their friends or children locally - Cookie counting, when you bake with your little one always be sure to make a couple extra for giving to neighbours or relatives, including others in the rewards of your activities will help your little one see the full circle - Food banks are another way of encouraging giving, the child a tin can from your shopping trolley to place into the local food bank or similar initiative What's my child learning? *empathy *inclusion *social skills *generosity
