I was randomly peeling potatoes and thinking: is Bow the only one (or one of the only ones) of the children who actually have the Power of cooking? Or is this something that George and Lance were so committed to teaching their children that they taught classes and techniques as if it were culinary school?

I too think of Bow randomly while peeling potatoes, I see you Anon.

I think George and Lance ran that family like the navy because I don't see how else you could survive with that many kids.

So everyone had a regimented cooking duty same as they had cleaning duty and the little ones start out working alongside the older siblings and learning from them until they get the hang of it.

As for being culinary school level of good, knowing your siblings will give you a hard time for a bad dinner is a powerful motivator so I could see them getting a little competitive about it, looking up unusual recipes, trying to outdo each other, etc.

For Bow specifically, as his siblings moved out one by one, he ended up with a greater share of the chores so it would have been a huge adjustment to go from knowing you had this list of things to do for the household every day to being at Bright Moon where everything is taken care of for you by magic and/or staff.

I can see not being allowed to help with the cooking / cleaning / etc in the castle stressing him out to where it's actually a relief that Glimmer is a disaster person because putting away her laundry at least helps him feel like he's contributing and not a total mooch.
