I've read once an adaptation of Donkey Skin, in which the heroine was king's step daughter instead of actual daughter. Have you met often with such change?

Yes, I've read it once, in an Irish version of the tale called The Princess in the Catskins.

There are also some bowdlerized retellings of Perrault's version that make the princess into the king's adopted daughter or his ward. Andrew Lang did this in his retelling, and so did the Let's Pretend radio adaptation.

I still think the funniest airplane/for-TV-broadcast movie edit I ever saw was the version of The King's Speech I saw on an airplane.

They just silenced the soundtrack every time he swore.

Which means that instead of sounding more fluid he just sounded like he was stuttering even more.

It was both hilarious and sad.
