Post Sunday Brunch = getting coffee love in Soho (Cafe Integral, Bowery Coffee, GasolineAlleyCo, La Colombe, Aubreve)
I found my passion with the #CoffeeLOVEProject and started to carry my board around everywhere I go, even when going to Jack's Wife Freda in Soho for brunch. The pre-condition is that i check weather and bring plastic bags to cover my collage board in case it rains.
Cafe Integral - Cesar from Nicaragua
After spending 3 weeks in Nicaragua in 2010, this country always has a soft spot in my heart. Therefore, after hearing about Cesar's new coffee shop Cafe Integral, I put it on my must-to-do list.
and when I arrived at Cafe Integral, the Strada machine was indeed very impressive (and the cool buddha hand shape I have here)
Sadly, Cafe Integral was not open on Sunday. But, I took the liberty and took a few photos. Cesar, voy a regresar!
La Colombe - several shops on Lafayette This PA-naive coffee has been a neighborhood darling for some time, I have yet to fully understand its charm. What I observed is the interesting round table type of counter and the mirror (see the tilted mirror below)
I clearly was so excited to hold their coffee jar that I was talking while the photo was taken.
Bowery Coffee - where a vintage lamp shop turned into a coffee haven
Recommended by @sines at Toby's Estate and Steph, I fully trusted this would be an awesome place. It turned out to be so - Alejandro, the barista, was super nice and made me a #gocchiato when I asked if they make special drinks.
The coffee served here are American Bulldog Roasters and I love the rusted wall with hip music playing in the background.
What's amazing was that the couple at the next table and I started talking when they spotted "Hungry Ghost" on my board. "that's in my neighborhood." "Oh cool. I visited there per suggestion from the staff at Chuko ramen." and what happened next was even more magic. "Were you at the highline yesterday?" "Yes, I was! What are the chances?" "I saw the Gimme coffee sign. cannot forget this board after seeing it once" This is how a conversation around coffee and restaurants unfolded at Bowery Coffee.
GasolineAlleyCo - a bike you will never forget.
I love their bare lights, high ceiling, two way entrance, the bright red color, but most importantly, the bike hanging on top that it would take a while to forget.
Au Breve - a cool latte art painting outside in Cooper Union I got to Au Breve, minimalistic design with a friendly barista Boris, who is very knowledgable about coffee. Then I learned that Boris used to work at Bowery Coffee with Alejandro, and Marcin from Toby's used to work at Au Breve.
That sunday was also the last day that the Met has metal pin - after coffee project, I took a taxi to catch the last pin of Met's history. I got it in the end (I found one metal pin in the trash can)
