Lost Again? / Jareth Imagine
Request: how about jareth with a directionally challenged s/o? I can imagine the joy he'd get from them getting lost for the hundreth time even though they've been to everypart of the maze. Maybe wind up in an oubliette by accident and he's like"your supposed to meet me in the throne room how you did this boggles even me"
The love for Jareth is honestly amazing, thank you! <3
Comments are much appreciated!
The daylight had dwindled to a barely perceptible lightening of the gloom.
Each wall of concrete had started to become identical to the next, without an identifying marker of any kind.
Standing in what could be any part of the labyrinth, you realize your folly.
There was no reason that left would be better than right, or ahead better than doubling back.
You considered sitting until the dawn, but who knows what Goblins would come when you were made blind by the night.
Plus, your husband was so excited to show you what he had planned in the throne room, you didn’t want to disappoint him.
Walking out from the dead end, you sigh to yourself, wondering why there were always more paths than clues.
You slump slightly, hands in pockets, waiting to choose. You examine the dirt, the direction of the sun, straining your ears for any sound.
You could barely hear the sound the sound of Jareth’s footsteps as he wanders around the labyrinth, trying to look in every nook and cranny with a smirk to find out where you had discovered this time.
With every step you took forward, Jareth seemed to be one step behind.
You would stop, start, take a short run to see if that got you anywhere, but alas it did not, and you felt a sinking feeling of despair as you realised something you had been denying for the past hour: you had been in this labyrinth thousands of time, but you were still lost.
Finally stumbling onto what looked like a trap door, you nearly cry out loud to be going inside, your footsteps echoing through the walls and alerting Jareth to your present as you climb down the staircase.
The dungeon was bare, except for a swooping that flew past your ears, the owl landing gingerly on the floor in front of you before transforming into the Goblin King.
He places his hands on his hips as he smirks at you, raising his eyebrows and shaking his head as you run towards him.
You nearly knock the two of you over as you wrap your arms around his waist, nestling your head into his chest and just breathing him in for a moment,
‘You were supposed to meet me in the throne room, my love! How you ended up here boggles even me, no one has been in this room for nearly a hundred years!’
‘It’s all part of my charm, Jareth’, you murmur against his skin.
‘I know, and I love you for it.’
