i think the fandoms portrayal of Kasper being a tall masculine hot seme top boy is deeply rooted in misogyny actually

okay, so i see a lot of L&K fanworks (mainly that of skaterlight. sorry but you should still read this post even if you dont like the ship because i think i make a good point here) that portrays kas as this like. Again, tall masculine hot guy.

this has always irked me and i always thought i was just going insane but no after thinking about it for more then 2 seconds i realized this has a genuine reason behind it, and of course, it all loops back around to MISOGYNY! WHEN WILL WE PROGRESS!

Kasper is a man. Kasper is a character that has a deep voice. Kasper is a character that fashion sense of is a targets men's section.

Kasper is a character that is not blatantly emotional. His backstory, and what he writes in the text documents the beginning of L&K 1, 2, and 3 don't show clear sadness in it. He appears to be a well put-together type of person, saving some guy from a fuckin IKEA. Kasper is also the one who "died" in their friendship, so we do not see him mourn. Kasper is someone that does not appear to care about Lampert as much.

Kasper is a character that appears 'in control' of the situation. Like previously stated, he acts as a guiding light for Lampert. He's on top of what to do in L&K 1 and 2 - Especially in the former does he seem like he has a firm grasp of everything, giving Lampert advice (like he does in the latter) but also his mannerisms seem monotone and slightly devoid of emotion (VERY manly thing to do according to alpha male podcasts.)

Lampert is a character that is obviously saved. Lampert is a character that has a lighter voice. Lampert is a character with an ambiguous fashion sense (excluding holiday/seasonal in-game outfits).

Lampert is a character that is blatantly emotional. His entire story from after Kasper getting infected is him *coping* with that loss, he's obviously plagued with grief and another factor is that he's trying to hide from that. Lampert is also a character whose face is visible, unlike Kasper's - This means you can understand his emotions more clearly, you can see the way he looks at Kasper. You can understand how much he means to him very very obviously, unlike Kasper, where you have to... *gags*.. have READING COMPREHENSION to

I think it's clear how the fandom characterizing them the way they do is rooted in misogyny,

But, above all, Kasper wasn't, and won't be, a character truly like this.

The whole point of his and Lampert's relationship is that they saved each other.

The one we all know being: Lampert being a vacant soul in an empty store, and when he meets Kasper, he shows him the world and helps him find meaning in such a life whilst sticking by his side every step of the way and after.

But, Lampert saved Kasper too: Kasper seeming to be a lonely person that finds being an adult empty, finding someone to spend his days with, to talk to, to live with seriously benefits him. A key point it makes in this is that Lampert helps him be.. Himself. Helps him have fun again, he helps him cut loose in a stern life. (Yes, their arcs mirror each other.)

Although it is stated that Kasper had other friends, but it is very clear that he was not as close to any of them, and I highly doubt this was anyone other then Split and Poob (you can see Split + Poob in the background of one of the photos in the montage he made in L&K 3. This is what Lampert means by 'he met them') Otherwise, he would not mention that "it makes him feel good to experience things with someone". Kasper was lonely before he met Lampert.

Kasper cherished Lampert just as much as Lampert cherished him, and I think one of the best examples of this is the photo of them on his desk.

He was veery excited to take the picture

its also implied that this was planned ("cmon lets go take the picture!"), like photo frame and all,

he still framed it even if it got ripped (I understand this is something that had to have happened, but nonetheless it still means something.),

his attachment to the photo was so deep his emotions towards it carried over to infected. Its said that infected "cant get rid of it for some reason". Even while ALL of his memories got erased, his EMOTIONS towards the photo stayed, showing his love for it was very grave (again, even if it was ripped),

his emotions towards the photo were extreme, despite only having it for around a day or two.

Also, something else that I think is really interesting to me is that people, literally ALL THE TIME draw Kasper taller then Lampert, but CANONICALLY he isnt! hes SHORTER LOL! I made a post about this with a simple image approximating their heights, and even if my calculations are wrong, it doesn't mean that Kasper is taller LOL

theres nothing i hate more then viruslight (not to be confused with my VERY beloved lampkas/bowlingduo) but i gotta say if done properly it is the pinnacle of toxic yaoi sometimes

im tired of these viruslight fanarts where lampert is all blushy. Make lampert hate that bitch. Make him despise him but also make him desperately crave him because hes the only pieces of Kasper that could ever remain. make him need him but want to hurt him every time he does something that kasper wouldve done in his sickly ways.
