I am in need of help! I've fallen into a book slump and right now all the books I have seem to be driven by the romance and that's not what I'm looking for. Any suggestions for ya books with a good non-romance led plot? I need to get out of this slump!
HUZZAH FOR NON-ROMANCE LED BOOKS! These are just some of my personal favorites - upcoming / new titles that don’t focus on romance as well that you might want to look at include Nova Ren Suma’s The Walls Around Us, Justine Larbalestier’s Razorhurst and Courtney All the Rage.- Bloody Jack by L.A. Meyer (about a girl who becomes a pirate! There is a love interest but the first book is about Jacky learning to read / write / sail and the series follows her adventures)- Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer (about ridiculously intelligent Artemis and the fey creatures he tricks into giving him gold and eventually befriends as the series goes on)- The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A. Barron (about a young Merlin on the island of Fincayara)- Graceling by Kristin Cashore (in which a girl Graced with killing must rescue a young girl. A love interest and some romance, but it doesn’t fuel the plot)- Beauty Queens by Libba Bray (a hilarious YA commentary on our society)- Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson (about a girl’s struggle with anorexia)- Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst (my icon! a fantasy where a girl must rescue her gods)- Reread Harry Potter.- Reread The Hunger Games. What, rereading is fun! There are definitely a lot more than this. What are your suggestions for non-romantic YA books?
