A shadow darkened the water above her, drawing the attention of the dark haired mermaid. Intrigued she started toward it, breaking the surface of the brackish water with a tiny white capped splash. It was just a boat, she'd seen them many times before, but this one was different in a way she couldn't quite capture. She swam around toward the front of the vessel, arcing her neck to look up at the deck. Se caught a glimpse of hair and what she thought to be an arm. "Hey!" She called up, lifting an arm out of the water to wave. She wasn't really supposed to be interacting with the others, but just this once she didn't think before breaking the rules.

"The same thing that happens to pretty much everyone, sooner or later.”

"They ran outta luck. And Pandora swallowed them whole."

It wasn't often that Emily found herself summoned by anyone, much less someone who knew what they were doing. Normally it was clumsy teenagers doing it on a dare -- they didn't last long, screaming in terror as she appeared in a flare of luminescent purple flames. This time it was a wizard who called for her and she was quick to appear in the circle of vibrant black symbols, purple smoke and flames coiling around her like faithful companions.
