So I finished my first weaving project that was on a child's toy box loom. I got 4.6m of trim! I need to wash it but baby steps.

My uncle saw me using this cheap little thing, glued it up so it actually stayed square and then proceeded to laser cut me a new box loom.

I have to so some sanding, find some dowels and then glue, sand again, paint or stain and then it is completed!

I got tired of having all of my yarn tangling and losing tension so I made a very simple box loom out of things I have around the house. So far, it's much easier than I was expecting! I just need to keep track of which way the cards are turning and remembering to actually thread the shuttle through the shed 😅 Also ignore the messy floor, poor tension and inconsistent pattern, I'm still very new to this.

Overall though, this is turning out to be a really neat project.

Making the Box Loom

Ok so this is a tutorial on how to make a box style loom out of a cardboard box and some brads (aka paper fasteners) which you can usually get wherever they sell school/office supplies for pretty cheap. I know I've gotten some for around 3 dollars or less. It also requires an exacto knife and a ruler but I think you could probs get away with scissors if you're careful. You'll also need a pen or a pencil for marking out stuff and to poke holes, and you will need some masking tape.

So the laser cut box loom from this post is now sitting with glue on it.

I do not like glueing, we are hoping it has been done right, and now I get to do other things before going through and sanding/rasping edges to be what I would like them to be.

After that it is find a primer, paint it with acrylics, then sealer!
