2021 BMW R 18 Classic’s built on BMW’s Big Boxer platform, with an air-cooled 1,802cc opposed flat-Twin (also known as a horizontally opposed engine, is a type of internal combustion engine where the cylinders are positioned horizontally, directly across from each other on either side of the crankshaft. The pistons move towards and away from each other in a back-and-forth motion, resembling a boxer's punches, hence the name. This design results in a low center of gravity and smooth operation due to the balanced.
Typical of Boxer engine setup, this bike weighs in at 790 pounds which is Harley Davidson porky cruiser territory. It’s powerful enough 80 horsepower though and 109 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheel working through a 6-speed transmission mated to a single-plate dry slipper clutch and shaft final drive.
