i like tgirl Hong Lu a lot because i often like hcing characters that are regaining agency as transgender (if it works with how they are about gender and all), and usually it is via hcing them with a gender that is the opposite of their canon one. but upon seeing a post saying that a good bunch of people that hc him as transfem is because of stereotypes towards asian men. and fuckkk i get worried that i am doing that even if i literally like it for regaining agency of their own self reasons. extremely valid criticism don't get me wrong but it did scare me a bit because what if i'm evil and portraying it in a way that is Bad,
Alright, I will be talking here
Intention always matters when it comes to headcanons. It is possible for you to be unknowingly racist or sinophobic, understand, but, when you have a specific idea behind a headcanon for a reason (source material or your reason) or even when it’s just something you’d want to for this character cause hou like them, understand you’re working from less of an idea of bias and bigotry.
When it comes to headcanons, as long as you’re not saying “I headcanon Hong Lunas transfem because I don’t Chinese men can be masculine” or anything under that umbrella, it is likely not coming from a bad place or intentions.
Also, fun fact, I also hc her as a trans woman myself. From what I’ve heard of the source material and because of a friend of mine
