on my third rewatch and just got through ep 3 and man. the devlin house is such a strong fucking episode. like quality-wise. acting-wise. plot-wise. etc. that’s not to say the first two episodes weren’t strong, but the devlin house hits noticeably harder and hits different. like it’s the precise turning point episode where you realize oh. this show isn’t just gonna be campy with a dash of angst. we’re addressing some serious heavy ass trauma. and not just magical unreal trauma either like. just straight up abuse. and the boy who’s been unserious and silly this whole time isn’t just like that for shallow comic relief reasons. there is so much more there lurking under the surface. oh man it’s good

#it’s a very very strong episode very good writing very good acting mwah #rambling #dead boy detectives #jayden revri was getting moderately simple parts to act out and then they hit episode 3 and were like okay jayden :)#let’s see what you can fucking do.#boy.#it was interesting to watch it again and actually pay attention to edwin during parts of this episode #where the focus is on charles and he’s sorta in the background or not at the forefront #specifically when the family keeps getting killed and he’s just standing there. hardly reacting. i know now that that was a choice #at least partially? possibly entirely? decided by george and man i love when an actor knows his character that well #as to consider things like hm. yeah. he’s probably really Really desensitized to violence.
