Burberry Will Stop Using Fur and Burning Unsold Clothing
Burberry is joining the ranks of high-fashion houses that have chosen to omit fur from their collections, following the footsteps of vegan brand Stella McCartney, and Gucci, Michael Kors, Net-a-Porter, and others.
In an effort to be more cruelty-free, they will no longer be designing or stocking fur materials.
In an interview with The Business of Fashion, Burberry CEO Marco Gobbetti announced that, though the British fashion house is not going totally cruelty-free (yet!), they will no longer be working with rabbit, fox, mink, Asiatic raccoon fur, and angora.
Shearling and leather will still be in the mix of their approved materials, and there is no word yet on whether they will eventually be nixed as well.
The Humane Society has applauded the brand’s efforts.
