The only place you'll see an orca haul itself out of the water and perform a completely unnatural and unnecessary stunt, is at a marine park. "Kohana", born in 2002 at SeaWorld, was separated from her mother when she was just 4 years old; a time when she had much learning to do. Shipped off to Loro Parque, who needed a pod, and fast for the opening of their orca stadium, four motherless youngsters were thrown together and expected to figure out not only how to be orca, but how to be performing orca, and with zero guidance from an older, dominant figure. Kohana eventually ended up rejecting both of her calves due to the sudden changes that were made in her life, by the hands of the captivity industry. Day to day, this has been her life, her purpose, since 2006.
