Sero knew something like this was bound to happen eventually -- sometimes it felt like 1-A walked around with a big sign on their back that said ‘ hey villains! how about you try to kill these teenagers? wouldn’t that be rad? ’ Apparently, everyone thought it was totally rad.
Smart-ass quips hung heavy on his tongue, wanting nothing more than to spit humorous insults at this villain amidst his overwhelming anxiety. Despite his desires, his commonsense was stronger than his urge to cover his anxiety with humor. Pissing this dude off any more would certainly make the situation at hand even worse.
Planting his feet firmly on the ground, Sero got in his typical fighting position. Rolling his shoulders, he steadied his arms and --

Aoyama’s words cut through his focus and he stood there, frozen in his attack stance for a moment. Did Aoyama really think that he’d run away? Nose scrunched up and brow furrowed behind his helmet, Sero shook his head. The prospect was nothing but disgusting! Who would abandon their friend in the middle of a fight? Especially a fight that neither of them could win on their own.
“ I’m not going anywhere, Aoyama. ” Sero’s voice was stern yet comforting, filled with an odd confidence that wasn’t there most of the time. “ I’m sure the cops are on their way -- the civilians that we got out of the zone of danger should have called once they got to safety. We have to hold out until then. Together. ”
Lifting his hand to his head and pressing the button on the side of his helmet, the visor lifted, showing Sero’s warm smile. It radiated a certain kind of comfort. Matched with the confident look in his eyes, he hoped that it would serve as a morale boost for Aoyama. He was terrified, sure, but he had someone to look after and he certainly wasn’t going to turn around and abandon him.
