Probably that people like him, to be completely honest. Sure he's a fucking shit, but I never expected to get this far with him.

↬ catching fire ↬ peeta & katniss

The Peace Keepers had pulled them back, away from the sight of the old man falling to his knees in District 11 and no matter how many times she blinked, Peeta couldn't erase the sight. She waited until Effie and Haymitch were asleep before she slipped out of her room and knocked softly on the adjoining door to Katniss' room. 

          ❝Katniss. . . are you awake? I can't 

               sleep.  I  need  to talk to you . . .

               about today.❞

The last word came out a whisper, barely breathed. She glanced down the hallway to make sure the coast was still clear. She'd always known they were watched ( and probably listened ) to but now she felt more exposed.

   Peeta's baby blue hues were fixed out the window, watching    the sun set and losing himself in the vision. Slow breaths leaving    his lips while his fingers curled into the arm of the chair he was sat    upon. This was when he felt at peace, losing himself as he felt numb    staring at the sunset, it helped calm him when he felt like he was losing    his grip.

   The sounds of footsteps caused him to turn around, a blank expression    on his face until it clicked in who it was.

          "Hey." He greeted softly.
