Note: well, hello! I have no idea when I last posted a blurb, so I know it's been a while. I don't know how many people are still reading on here, but I've gotten back into writing, so I thought I would post this! It's based on the song If You Love Her by Forest Blakk and Meghan Trainor. I've decided to turn this into a little series of blurbs, inspired by different parts of the song, and this is the first one. I would LOVE to know what you think of this, as it has been a while since I posted, so any feedback would be really appreciated!

“Can’t sleep?”
You huff and roll onto your back, suddenly feeling like there isn’t enough air in the room and the covers are touching you just a little bit too much. Calum had feigned sleep well, you didn’t know he was awake — but your tossing and turning had prevented him from falling into his own slumber. The heavy, bleary eyes and aching head is something that’s familiar to you — having never been one to fall asleep easily. You always need several aids for sleep to find you — whether it’s the TV, a podcast, or reading a book in bed until you eventually drift off. It hadn’t changed since moving in with Calum.
“No,” You sigh and shake your head, already sitting up, planning on accepting defeat in the battle against your own active mind. Calum hums sympathetically, spotting Duke curled up at the end of the bed — at least one of us is getting some sleep, he thinks. He has no intention of falling asleep and leaving you to sit and think, alone in the dark.
“Want to get some air?” He suggests. He has no idea what time it is, but he doesn’t really care — time is irrelevant now the world is locked down, all in a period of forced stillness. When it first came into play, he had tried to maintain some sort of routine — you had integrated your routine with his — but a few months in, it didn’t seem important anymore. You nod at his suggestion, knowing there’s no point in laying next to him, just staring at the ceiling. He pats your thigh with a warm reassuring hand, gesturing for you to follow him. “C’mon, gorgeous.”
You follow Calum through the house, bare feet padding against the wooden floors. It’s silent and still. He grabs his packet of cigarettes from the table and opens the back doors, leaving it open behind him to let some air in, and so Duke can follow you out if he wants to. He sits down first on one of the chairs at the opposite end of the garden, opening his arms, waiting for you to climb into his lap.
It takes a bit of manoeuvring but you manage to settle in his lap — your legs swung over his, one strong arm around your back, keeping you there. You tuck your face against his neck, finding comfort in the warmth of his skin and the scent of his cologne buried in the fabric of the hoodie he threw on. You press your lips to the column of his throat, leaving a kiss there — there’s nothing behind it, just a simple show of affection, and appreciation that he’s there with you.
“You shouldn’t think so much,” Calum murmurs, the hand he’s not using to hold you brushing over your temple; like he’s trying to soothe the thoughts away. You don’t say anything, just glance up at his face whilst he talks — knowing in the back of your mind that he’s right. “Too caught up in your head, angel. That’s why you don’t sleep.”
You sigh, eyes focused on the pattern of his hoodie — your fingers tracing the design. You were going to stay quiet but decide on a sarcastic comment instead; murmuring a “thanks, Dr Hood,” and receiving a playful slap to the thigh in return.
“Smart arse,” He retorts, shifting you a little so he can light a cigarette. It’s a habit you know he’s tried to quit, but not something you nag him about. Somehow, a smell that was once a nuisance to you now reminds you of your kind hearted boyfriend. “Well, if you don’t need me, I’ll just go back to bed, see if I care.”
You can hear the smirk on his lips as he speaks, making sure he turns his head to blow the smoke away from you. You hum in acknowledgment, tucking your legs up closer to yourself, to retain some heat. Neither of you have checked what time it is, but it’s still completely dark — deep skies highlighted by flickers of stars, with no sign of the sun coming up any time soon. There’s a chill in the air, setting over your skin — Calum rubs his hand up and down your calf, a warm palm soothing the goosebumps that have risen. His chapped lips brush your bare shoulder between drags of the cigarette between his fingers, where his shirt has slipped down.
“Oh, but you do care,” You reply, reaching up to brush your pointer finger down his cheek, to coax him to look at you. He does, and it’s as intense as ever — you have these moments where you look at each other, really look, and it says more than any words could. “You wouldn’t leave your girl out here alone, would you?”
He chuckles a little, the sound rumbling deep in his chest, against your cheek. You know you’ve got him when he laughs like that, when he’s stumped on what sarcastic comment to make next. It’s not often he lets you win, but on this occasion, you’re right.
“I would never,” His tone is softer now — there’s no sarcasm behind it. He puts out the cigarette and pecks your lips once, then twice, the slight taste of smoke lingering on his lips. He nudges his nose against yours and kisses your cheek, staying there for a moment, before he moves to rest his cheek against the top of your head. “Can’t get enough of you, sweetheart. Even in the middle of the night, apparently.”
You don’t say anything else for the moment, just basking in the silence of the night — zoning out as you gaze at the stars, losing yourself in the feeling of Calum’s fingertips touching whatever skin he can reach. They trail up and down your thigh, and occasionally up and down your arms. His lips rest against your hairline, and he pecks kisses there every few minutes.
“As much as I love sitting here with you,” He murmurs after a little while, hand gently tapping your thigh, to get your attention. You’d be lying if you said you weren’t falling asleep in his lap, soothed by the night sky, his gestures, and just being around him in general. “I don’t think it would be very good for your posture to sleep here all night, my love. Also, I definitely have pins and needles in my arm now.”
You exhale deeply, and Calum laughs at how dramatic he thinks you are, since you only have to go inside — although he is quite comfy with you curled up in this lap.
“C‘mon, baby,” He coaxes you to stand up, warm palms sliding up your thigh. He kisses your cheek before you reluctantly pull away from him, climbing out of his lap, stretching your body as you go. He stands up after you, keeping a hand on the small of your back to guide you back into the house. “Let’s go to bed.”
Calum locks the back door behind him, and soon enough, you find yourself back in bed, except now — it’s Calum who's awake. He’s in the centre of his bed, one arm wrapped around your bare shoulders, holding you against his chest. Over the last few months he’s realised that’s your favourite way to sleep — face pressed against him, an arm over his stomach. You don’t always wake up in the same position, but as long as you’re touching each other in some way, you find yourself sleeping better. Duke, who clearly wasn’t phased by your little venture outside, is still fast asleep, his fur tickling Calum’s calf. It feels like home, he thinks; just where he should be.
Calum pulls his duvet up and over your back, covering you both, before he sets his phone down on his bedside table. He loves how the sheets smell of you and him combined now, after you’ve slept there for the past few weeks. It’s not just his bed now, it’s yours too. He brushes a kiss to your forehead, his thumb soothing over your hairline, and he takes a moment just to realise how thankful he is that you’re there with him.
“Sleep tight, baby.”

This is just something inspired by Calum’s Instagram story — I thought him playing piano had Sunday afternoon vibes but then I realised it was Monday and somehow this happened so... enjoy!
Monday’s suck.
Or at least that’s what you’ve been told by everyone your whole life — seeming to be an unwritten rule in society that the first day of the week, after the weekend, is a drag for everyone. And for a long while, it felt that way for you too — Monday would roll around and you’d wake up wanting to spend a little longer getting more sleep.
Yet somehow, that had changed as soon as Calum entered your life.
Every week felt a little easier; each day got more enjoyable with every moment you spent getting to know him. They got even better once you started staying at his house. His bed felt like a safe haven, and you wonder how you ever slept before it was next to him.
“How did you get in here?” You murmur to the small dog curled up on the edge of the bed, fur tickling your legs. The sheets are warm on your skin as you wake up slowly, realising you’re alone in the room — except from Duke. Calum’s side of the bed is deserted, the pillow crinkled from when he had laid there some hours ago. Waking up alone felt a little easier, even just knowing that he was in the next room. “Where’s your pops?”
The first time you heard Calum refer to himself as ‘pops’ to the grumpy dog your heart had melted, as it seemed to with every thing you learned about him. Duke sits up from the bed as you climb out of it, rubbing your eyes and adjusting to the sunlight flooding the room, wondering where Calum has got to. You note how he’s left a hoodie draped over the chair in the corner of the room, and wonders whether it was intentional — even if it wasn’t, you take it and slip the material over your head. There’s something comforting about the warmth his clothes brings, laced with his cologne. It’s then that the faint sound of piano keys fills your ears, and you know where to find him.
Stepping out of the bedroom, the wooden floor is cold beneath your feet as you head down the hall, towards the middle of the house. The sound of the piano gets louder yet you can’t quite make out the song — he keeps stopping and starting. Somehow he can pick up songs quicker than you change clothes; his ears in tune with any song he wants to learn. Duke follows behind you, the pitter patter of his little paws accompanying you.
“Hey,” You call out quietly, standing in the doorway to the room where you find your boyfriend, sitting at the piano. He stops for a moment and turns to face you, his gaze softening when he spots his hoodie — definitely intentional, you think.
He gestures for you to go over and you do, standing behind him for a moment and wrapping your arms around his broad shoulders. You rest your cheek on his head, curls blocked by one of the many bucket hats tucked away in his wardrobe. You run your fingers through the dark curls at the back of his neck, feeling the goosebumps that break out over the skin as you stand there. He continues playing, fingertips gently gracing the keys, and you still don’t recognise the song but it sounds pretty — a soft, slow, perfect way to start a Monday.
“Good morning, love,” He replies, finally deciding to break the silence as he turns to kiss your hand. He stops playing once more and his fingertips land on your thigh, looking up at you from his spot on the bench. “C‘mere, I want to play for you.”
You move around the bench to sit down next to him, your head landing on his shoulder, his head turning to brush his lips against your hairline. His lips linger there for a moment, just savouring the minute, whilst he has you there. You lift your head to kiss his cheek before settling again, letting him play, basking in the serene feeling of the morning. The sun streams through the window and things couldn’t be more perfect, feeling Duke curl up beneath the piano. It feels as though in that moment, everything is where it should be — and there’s no where else you’d rather be.
“S’ pretty, what are you playing?” You ask when he’s done, your fingers lacing with his when he pulls away from the keys. His grasp is warm and gentle, grounding you and reminding you that you’re both there together.
He shrugs subtly, squeezing your hand in his, his thumb brushing your forehand. “It was just stuck in my head, I woke up thinking about it. Hence why I had to leave you in bed, I hope you don’t mind.”
You chuckle and shake your head, assuring him that waking up alone is perfectly fine. “Of course I don’t mind, Cal. Especially when I wake up to this, you somehow Monday’s much more bearable.”
Having him around makes everything feel less like a mountain to climb, and more like an adventure to face head on — anything seems possible when he’s there to support you. As you sit and bask in the feeling of him, listening to him play away at the keys in front of him and the sun on your back... suddenly, you wish everyday could feel like Monday.
The idea for this came from this post, which I thought was so sweet and beautiful — so I just had to write about it! Features soft boyfriend and dad Luke, like pretty much all of my writing does lmao. As always thank you to @calumrose for talking about this with me all day and reading along the way! I’m really happy with how this turned out so please let me know what you think if you enjoyed it too.♥️

Warnings: mentions of pregnancy.
“I think it’s time for a coffee.”
Luke thinks out loud, talking to Petunia as he opens the front door to your shared home, unclipping her lead so she could get a drink from her bowl. Since lockdown had begun, Luke had gone to the effort of going for a run most mornings — wanting to get out of the house (and his head) before a day of Zoom meetings and phone calls.
Running usually left him feeling energised, yet today is one of those days — he knows he needs at least one more coffee before he gets anything done. He left around an hour ago, leaving you in bed to wake up at your own pace. The house is quiet as he steps in, but he knows you’re up — he can hear the rumbling of the TV from the lounge, needing something to fill the silence of the house whilst he’s gone. He knows you have your own work to do today too.
“Good morning, babe.” He calls out into the lounge, looking into where you’re curled up on the couch — mug of tea in your hand, laptop on your lap. It’s still relatively early morning — he hasn’t checked the time, but he knows you have to be logged on by 9:00am.
“Hey, good run?” You ask, looking up at him and taking in his post run state — something he hates, yet you couldn’t get enough of it. There was something about it — long, bleached blonde curls tied back into a little bun, a tank top that perfectly shows off his arms. He leans down, lips brushing against your forehead in a silent hello. “You’re all sweaty.”
He ignores your comment, looking at your face — eyebrows furrowed a little as if he was confused about something.
“What’s up?” He asks, taking one of your hands and lacing his fingers with yours, squeezing gently. Now it’s your turn to look confused.
“What do you mean?”
“You’re irritated by something,” Luke tells you, almost like he knows your emotions better than you do. How does he know? You did get a frustrating email from a work colleague just before he came back from his run, but he doesn’t know about that. “Your left eye is twitching. You’re doing that cute eyebrow thing, too.”
You scoff, taken aback by his words, as you’d never noticed that you did that when you’re annoyed by something. Even more annoyingly, Luke is right.
“How did you... I don’t do that.” You argue, and Luke laughs, happy that he’s at least distracted you from whatever you’re annoyed about for a moment. “What cute eyebrow thing?!”
“You do, babe,” He replies, raising his eyebrows in a knowing expression. He loves how defensive you get. He’s seen you do it countless times. He’s never mentioned it to you before, he assumes you know — but it’s always a telltale sign that you’re not happy about something. He remembers the first time he noticed it — when you’d asked him to take the bins out and he’d completely forgotten. Lockdown had made it even more clear that it’s your body’s reaction to whatever was annoying you, since he’d seen it more than ever since working from home. “Well, let’s see if I’m right. Are you annoyed about something?”
“Well... yeah,” You roll your eyes when he smiles in triumph. “I got an email from my boss that pissed me off. I’ll be lucky to finish everything he sent by midnight at this rate.”
“Thought so,” He says, mainly to himself. He brushes his lips against yours in a soft peck, before pushing up from the sofa and heading to make himself the coffee he was thinking about. “It’s okay, babe, you have me here to entertain you all day whilst you work on it. Anything I can help with?”
You shake your head, knowing it would take even longer if you tried to explain it to Luke.
“Coffee would help.”
He smiles to himself in the kitchen, as he has already gotten a mug out to make you one too, knowing it would help you through the morning.
“Coming right up, honey.”

There’s no sound more soothing than that of crashing waves.
Especially in the late evening — the sun set creating a beautiful orange and purple haze. Everything felt quiet, peaceful, serene. You’re sat on the wall at the seafront. The sand felt warm beneath your toes, a contrast to the cool sea breeze causing goosebumps to break out over your bare arms. Luke notices.
“Here,” He takes off his denim jacket, leaving him in just a black t—shirt, before he drapes it over your shoulders, tucking the material around you. You cuddle into the jacket, stealing his warmth — the scent lingering on the material surrounding you with Luke. He knew from the moment you left the house, that he’d be giving you his jacket at some point in the day. He’d suggested you take one when you set off, but you waved him off — saying you’ll be fine in what you’re wearing. He made sure he wore one, so he could give it to you. “Better?”
“Much,” You nod, kissing his scruffy cheek and resting your head on his shoulder. His loving gestures made your heart melt. “The baby isn’t cold anymore. Thank you.”
The baby.
Luke still isn’t used to those words, yet the more he hears them, the more he hopes they sink in. You’re almost at 12 weeks — almost at the point where you can start to let others in on the secret you and Luke have so happily been keeping. He’s excited for his parents and brothers to find out, to see his mum’s reaction to becoming a grandma. He can’t wait to hear his bandmates, his brothers, argue over who is going to be the godparent. He can’t wait for it all.
He smiles, resting his cheek on the top of your head as you watch the sunset. He hears you sigh in contentment, knowing you truly feel at peace when you’re with him, especially when you’re at the beach. Two of your favourite things. He had planned an evening out for the two of you, wanting to go later in the day as it would be less crowded — as well as being able to watch the sunset.
“Can we walk down to the sea?” You ask, noticing how the tide was starting to come in, and if you didn’t go now, you wouldn’t be able to. “I won’t splash you, promise.”
“Of course,” He pushes up from the wall, lacing your fingers with his to help you get down, before you head down the sand. Most of the people who had been around had left, leaving just the two of you on that part of the beach, along with a few dog walkers. “It wouldn’t be a trip to the beach without it.”
You make it to the edge of the sea, the sand wet beneath your feet as they sink into the soft ground. You grip Luke’s hand a little tighter to keep upright, and he can’t take his eyes away from your face. He knows exactly how you feel in the moment. Your eyes are glistening with a happiness he doesn’t often see, one that’s reserved for what he thought were special moments between you both. Going to the beach isn’t anything special, but the feeling he knows you’re experiencing right now is. He’s unsure whether it’s him, or the peaceful evening at the sea, maybe a combination of the two. The pregnancy glow is real too, Luke is sure of it. He never understood what people meant when they said that you glow — yet looking at you right now, he knows they were right.
He’s so used to seeing you stressed and anxious, worrying about work or a family member, and everything in between. Especially since you found out you were expecting, too — always worried about something going wrong, as well as just general fears of parenthood. He savours moments like this, where he knows you truly feel as careless as you can. Your smile is different. He’s caught off guard by a larger wave and it makes you laugh — really laugh, one that isn’t forced, and he knows when your nose scrunches up as you smile at him. He can tell when you’re truly happy — and he knows in this moment, you are.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” You ask, a blush creeping onto your cheeks as you suddenly feel a little self conscious. Luke shakes his head and shrugs his shoulders.
“I’m not looking at you like anything,” He replies, acting innocent — like he isn’t thinking about you’re feeling, like that’s not all he can focus on. “I just love being here with you. And I love you.”
He wraps his arm around your shoulders, pulling you into his body, your face pressed against his chest. Your arm wraps around his back, hand landing on his side, holding yourself close to him. His free hand slips beneath his jacket, over the ever growing bump beneath his palm — feeling the soft rolls and kicks. He basks in the feeling, hoping it would last forever — although forever didn’t feel like long enough when it came to you.
“I love you too.”
***
Luke is cautious as he sways around the room.
He delicately hums under his breath, not wanting to make too much noise, but wanting the sweet baby in his arms to know he was there. She seems to find his voice comforting — something he has learned over the past five days of her life. Probably from all the hours he spent talking and singing to her when she was still a bump.
“Is she down?” You ask quietly, slipping into the bedroom and carefully sitting down at the edge of your bed. The lamp in the corner of the room is dimmed, creating a soft ambience in the room, relaxing all three of you. You can’t get over how tiny your daughter looks in her dad’s arms, barely fitting along the length of his arm. His broadness doesn’t help, yet there’s something so sweet about the size difference between the two.
“Nearly,” Luke yawns quietly as he looks down at her face. Her eyes are pretty much closed — long, delicate eyelashes gracing her full cheeks, rosy from the warmth of being tucked in his arms. She’s not quite ready to fall fully asleep just yet though, wiggling in his grasp as he rocks her. “She’s fighting it a little bit. Ain’t so bad, though. I don’t want to put her down.”
You chuckle at his words, pushing back the thick duvet and tucking your legs beneath it, trying to get comfortable. Sleep is few and far between as a new parent, something you and Luke have grown to learn over the last week. You’ve never seen Luke so fixated on something — the way he’s gazing at the bundle of blankets in arms makes your heart flood with adoration.
“God, she’s just like you.” Luke murmurs, lifting his arms a little so she’s closer to his face. His lips brush her forehead, leaving the lightest of kisses against the soft skin. The weight of her in his arms was such a comfort to him, one that he’s never felt before.
“In what way?” You ask, curiously. Over the last few days, you’ve noticed a few features of Luke’s in her — obviously, she has his perfect slope of a nose. You’re curious to know what he has noticed of you in her.
“Well,” He gently sits down next to you, shuffling over so you can see your daughter, so you can look at her together. You can hear her snuffles and little noises as she falls asleep, a sound that has grown to be comforting ever since she was born, so you know she’s okay. Luke feels as though he learns something new about her every time he looks at her. “Do you see how she’s pouting? How her bottom lip is out, even though she’s asleep? You do the same thing when you’re asleep.”
“Really?” You ask, noticing that Luke was right. She’s pretty much fast asleep, yet her little bottom lip is out in almost a full pout. Luke smiles at you realise, taking his thumb and ever so softly running it beneath her full lips. She doesn’t react to his touch, staying asleep as he continues to rock her gently. “I didn’t know I did that.”
“You do, and I love that she does it too.” Luke admits, his pointer finger trailing down the middle of her eyebrows, down the slope of her nose, tapping it ever so gently. Her nose scrunches up at the action, a yawn following — Luke chuckles at the face she pulls as she does. “That too. Her nose may look like mine, yet the little scrunching is all you.”
Luke pays a lot of attention to her mannerisms — he observes them whenever he gets the chance. He looks for parts of you in her. He doesn’t have to look far. She even has a freckle behind her ear — one exactly where you do — he noticed that the first time he held her. He doesn’t think he’s ever felt anything compared to the love he feels towards her, when he sees parts of the love of his life in the tiny being he helped to create.
“I can’t wait to hear her voice,” You think out loud, not wanting the time to rush by — yet you can’t help but think about everything you’re yet to know about her. Luke smiles at your words. You get to raise her, to watch her grow into her own person together. She’s there as a constant reminder of you to him.’ She’s perfect. “Her laugh, too. I hope she laughs like you.”
“As long as she’s happy, I don’t care.” He means it. He can’t wait for all of the milestones too. He knows the journey is going to be difficult — he’s only been a dad for a week, yet it’s been one of the most nerve wracking weeks of his life. “I hope she’s as happy as we are.”
He feels like he already knows her, as he stands up to put her to bed. He rests his forehead against hers for a second, basking in the feeling of her asleep in his arms, before he slowly lowers her into the crib. She’s unsettled for a moment, wondering where his warm arms have gone — yet she’s soothed when his fingertips graze her baby grow covered back, and she falls asleep. You know, he knows, and...
To be known, is to be loved.

3. Travelling long distances just to see them
The house didn’t feel the same without Calum.
The scent of his skin mixed in with his cologne still lingered on the bed sheets, on his pillow case; for you to bury your face into whenever you missed him just that little bit extra. Duke felt it too. He’d sleep curled up on Calum’s side of the bed, keeping you company. Mornings were far too quiet; you missed the familiar sound of his singing, whilst he made his first of several coffees for the day. The nights were lonesome too, without the rumbling of bass strings through the house.
He had only been gone for a few weeks.
FaceTime calls only went so far. You tried to stay distracted with work, or by taking Duke for walks, but every time you returned home it just reminded you that Calum wasn’t there. It wasn’t the first tour he had been on in your relationship, but it was the first since things had gotten a little more serious between the two of you.
Talking to Calum through a screen became more unbearable as time went on; wanting nothing more than to just reach through the phone and hold him.
“Miss you, babe.” Calum murmured from the middle of an unfamiliar bed, in another hotel room, in a different city from when he spoke to you last. He had been in so many hotel rooms, yet they all felt and looked the same to him. “Wish you were here.”
“I miss you too, Cal.” You replied, noticing the dark circles under his eyes, and realising just how tired he looked. “Do you have a day off tomorrow? You look exhausted, baby.”
He shook his head, rubbing his eyes and laying back against the pillows. You couldn’t help but think about laying with him, getting to sleep next to him, and waking up next to him. Most of your deepest conversation happened at 3:00am. When the two of you couldn’t sleep, you’d stay up into the early morning, wrapped up in each other. You’d talk through anything and everything that came to mind. You craved one of those nights with Calum.
“Not tomorrow. But then we’re travelling to New York, and we have the day off after that.” He explained, trying to recall the schedule in his head that he had been told earlier. “I’ll sleep on the flight.”
“Okay, baby. Just make sure you’re taking care of yourself, yeah? I don’t want you burning yourself out already.” You didn’t want to sound like his parent. However, Calum had a tendency to exhaust himself before he realised it was happening. You didn’t want to let him do that again, so soon into tour. “Duke misses you too.”
He jumped on the bed at the call of his name; laying down against your body, his head resting on your arm. “Look, here he is. Duke, it’s pops!”
Calum couldn’t stop himself from smiling at the sight of his two favourite beings, even though it was through a screen. He just wanted to be there; wanted to sleep in your bed, to hold the two of you. His heart ached at the thought. Hotel beds would never compare to how it felt to sleep next to you, no matter how comfortable they were.
“Duke, I miss you too, bubs.” He smiled, though it didn’t reach his eyes. You just wanted to hold him, to kiss him, and tell him that he was okay. “I’m gonna get some sleep, my love. I’ll call you in the morning.”
“Okay, Cal. Good night, love you.
“I love you too, baby.”
Knowing Calum had gone to bed, you laid in the dark, thinking about how badly you wanted to see him. You knew he’d be in New York in two days time, and that you could get there by then too. Taking a week off of work would be do-able. All you could think about was seeing the smile on his face if you were there.
You dropped Ashton a text, alerting him of your plans and making sure they were okay with the rest of the team. He helped you book a flight, making sure you’d arrive just after they did, and planning with security how you’d get from the airport to their hotel. Everything was in place, and you fell asleep that night knowing it would be your last night alone for a while.

The flight felt longer than any other had before. All you could think about was seeing Calum at the other side, getting to wrap your arms around him and force him to sleep. To take care of him for even just a short while, and to get to see him live out his dreams on stage. Getting to see him play live was another thing that could never compare, when experiencing it through a screen.
You collected your luggage and headed for arrivals; where a member of security would be waiting for you. Pulling out your phone, you desperately wanted to text Calum to tell him you were close to being with him. Surprising him would be much more fun, though. Hearing your name, you attention was pulled from your phone to Ashton standing in front of you.
“Hey, you.” Ashton pulled you into a friendly hug, happy to see you; knowing Calum would be in a much better mood when you got there. “It’s good to see you. I know Calum will feel the same.”
“It’s good to see you too!” You followed along behind him and the security guard; pulling your suitcase along behind you. “Is he okay?”
“We only got to the hotel about an hour ago, I think he crashed. He was in his room when we left.” He replied, your heart simultaneously aching and racing at the thought of seeing him. Even the journey from the airport to the hotel felt like forever. Ashton’s small talk helped to pass the time, catching you up on tour and what you had missed. He helped with your luggage and lead you to the floor they were staying on; taking you to outside of his room. “Cal is next door. You two have fun.”
You said your goodbyes to Ashton, before pulling your suitcase to outside of the next room. Knocking lightly on the door, in case he was asleep, you waited until you heard movement from the inside of the room.
“Ash?” Calum sleepily mumbled out, clearly having just rolled out of bed and expecting that Ashton was checking up on him; like he often did. Calum rubbed his heavy eyes, before peering through the hole in the hotel door. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion when his eyes landed on you, feeling as though he was dreaming. He swung open the door, a gasp leaving his lips as he realised you were really there.
“Hey, Cal.” You murmured, tears springing to your eyes as he pulled you into the room and into his arms. He held you to his chest, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his head on your shoulder. He was dressed only in boxers, his skin warm against yours, fresh from taking a nap. His blonde curls were a mess upon his head, begging for you to run your fingers through them.
“What are you doing here? How did you get here?” He rambled, lifting his head from your shoulder and holding your face in his hands gently. He couldn’t take his eyes away from you. He couldn’t believe you had flown all this way just to see him; it made him want to cry.
“I organised it with Ashton, he helped me plan it out. I decided to come out after you called the other night. Guess I just missed you too much.” You replied, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. He still looked half asleep; cheeks rosy and eyes heavy. “You should go back to bed, babe. Sorry I disturbed your nap.”
“Don’t be sorry,” He smiled against your lips, unable to resist kissing you for any longer. Kissing you felt like home, like it expressed everything he had missed about you for the past few weeks. “I’ll sleep better with you here anyway.”
“Go on, get back into bed. I’ll be there in a minute.” You pressed your lips to his in a few more kisses. He whined, not wanting to let go of you for a moment now that he had you. He couldn’t stop kissing you; he wanted to feel the gentle pressure of your lips against his. He wanted to commit the feeling to memory. With a bit more gentle coaxing from you, he reluctantly pulled away and settled back into the bed, waiting for you to return.
“Hurry, babe.”
You freshened up in the bathroom, changing into one of Calum’s hoodies that he had lying around before joining him.
“Missed you so much.” Calum murmured against your neck, voice thick and ladened with tiredness. It felt good to be holding him. To have him practically laid on top of you; legs intertwined, his free hand in yours, skin touching where ever possible. He was a comforting weight.
“I’m here now.” You smiled against his forehead, before kissing him once more. Stroking your hand through his hair, he sighed in contentment and pulled the duvet over the two of you. He realised that, wherever you were, felt like home. “Get some sleep, my love.”
note; I got the inspo for this after michael called calum out in an interview for napping several times in one day whilst they were doing promo. it’s kinda different for me so if you like it please let me know and I can try and do more! ♥️
Imagine waiting backstage with Calum and the guys before they’re due to go on stage, watching Calum as he rubbed his eyes every few minutes. You could sense the exhaustion a mile away. Luke would be doing his vocal warmups, Ashton would be in an ice bath, Michael probably playing a video game.
Calum would be slumped against you, his head on your shoulder, the material of his hoodie that you’d stolen soothing to his face. It grounded him - the smell of you and him combined in the fabric. There would be soft rock music playing in the background; just a quiet noise to fill the silence of the room as each band member prepared themselves for the show, physically and mentally.
It wouldn’t take long for Calum to resituate, forcing you into a position where you were basically holding him - an arm around his shoulders, with his face in your neck. He had the ability to fall asleep anytime, anywhere; something that came in handy at times like this where he was overtired and just wanted to re-energise before a show. You wouldn’t be able to resist raking your hands through his buzzed hair, which was finally starting to grow back - reminding you of the thick curls which were once there. As soon as you began playing with his hair, there was no going back. He’d be asleep in a matter of seconds, after mumbling a quiet “love you, babe.”
Tour could be chaotic, and was most of the time - which made you more grateful for the peaceful moments where you could hold Calum as he rested, and appreciate the quiet.
11. Morning kisses that are exchanged before either person opens their eyes, kissing blindly until their lips meet in a blissful encounter.
“Who’s idea was it to set an alarm?”
You groan and reach out for your phone, charging on the bedside table next to the soft, plush, queen sized bed. The decor of the room made you feel calm — the tropical theme that to match the island you were visiting. You’re grateful for the whirring of the air conditioning, knowing that as soon as you open the balcony doors, you’ll be met with a wave of heat. After shutting off the alarm, you were immediately met with the crashing of the waves outside of the window — along with the wind whooshing through the palm trees.
“Definitely yours.”
The alarm had been Luke’s idea, knowing that if you didn’t set one, you’d end up sleeping all the way through the first morning of your honeymoon. The night previous, he had been so determined to wake up for the sunrise, despite already feeling the jetlag of being in a different timezone. You knew there was no way it would happen though. Not on the first day.
You peek one eye open to look at your husband, just as sleepy as you — legs tangled with yours, his blonde curls spread across the pillow. A heavy arm reaches out for you, landing across your stomach, pulling you against him. You chuckle as he says no words, just a mumble into your neck as he nuzzles his face into you. Your husband. You still haven’t got used to calling him that, a week after your wedding. Every time you look at him, you can’t believe how lucky you are — that he’s your forever. And you’re his too.
“We should get up.” You mumble, turning to face him, resting your head on his chest. He wraps his arms around you, fingertips lightly tracing up and down the spanse of your bare back. He shakes his head, lips pressing a soft kiss to your forehead.
“No we shouldn’t.” He replies, keeping up his soothing gestures as you try not to fall asleep again. There was so much for the island to offer — so much exploring to do, yet you couldn’t seem to pull yourself away from the warmth of Luke’s chest. The sheets are soft against your skin, crisp and white, now warm from sleeping beneath them. “You’re too comfortable to let go of. Let’s stay here for a little bit longer.”
“Can we swim today?” You ask, tracing your finger along his jawline and his cheeks. “I’ve missed the beach.”
“We can do whatever you want, baby.” He replies, a smile gracing his lips as he thinks about the weeks ahead he gets to spend with you. “As long as it doesn’t mean getting up within the next half an hour.”
You lift your head, nudging your nose against his, savouring him being so close for a moment before gently kissing him. Neither of you open your eyes; still enticed by sleep, but just wanting to be connected in some way. One hand gently holds your chin, keeping you there — continuing to kiss you in soft pecks. His lips felt soft, slightly chapped — dried out from the day of travelling before. Your hand lands on the light scruff dusting his cheeks and jawline.
He sighs contently, opening his eyes slowly and adjusting to the sunlight shining through the thin white curtains. The sun has risen — ready for the new day and everything it had to offer. His mind wanders to the activities you’d be doing over the next few weeks — spending time at the beach, the pool, tasting every new food that you could find. Spending every moment together, relaxing, basking in the newly married feeling for as long as you could. He wants to spend every moment with you.
“Just ten more minutes of sleep.” You murmur, pilling the thin cover up over your back, covering the two of you. You hold onto Luke’s warmth for a little longer, burying your face in his shoulder. His fingertips continue to stroke up and down your back, quickly sending you back to sleep. The alarm had proven pointless, as you expected. “Then we’ll go and find breakfast.”
“Sounds perfect to me, my love.”

Just a small honeymoon blurb with Luke! Feedback is always appreciated, my ask box is here. This is from this prompt list, I’m still taking requests so please send me a boy & a number if you’d like me to write one!
For the first few months of yours and Calum’s relationship, staying hidden out of the public eye was fun.
It felt exciting. Sneaking into the back of hotels with security keeping you guarded, meeting him on the tour bus whenever you could. It felt exhilarating to be together without anybody knowing.
It got old, though. Suddenly the lengths that Calum was going to to keep your relationship a secret became a little too extreme, and you worried he was embarrassed to show you off. You were trying to tell yourself that it wasn’t that, and that he was just being protective. But as your relationship went from strength to strength, you felt as though maybe, it would be nice for people to know you were together.
“Cal?” You got his attention as he tied the laces of his old skool vans, his favourite shoes that went with most outfits that he wore. So much so, that whenever you saw them, they reminded you of him. He was about to head out with the guys for a morning of interviews, and then to sound check before the show later that night. “Can I... can we talk about something?”
His head snapped up from where he was sat at the edge of the double bed, filling up most of the space in the cosy hotel room. He couldn’t decide whether what you were about to say was good or bad, based on the tone of your voice. “Sure, babe. Is everything okay?”
“Do you think I could come out with you today?” You inquired cautiously. You hadn’t discussed this for a while, so you were unsure of what he’d think of your suggestion.
He furrowed his thick eyebrows at your unexpected words. “There’s gonna be a lot of fans there, babe. Are you sure you’re ready for that? Are... we, ready for that?”
“I just... think it might be nice if you don’t have to hide me anymore.” You replied, a little apprehensively.
“Baby,” He murmured, standing up and wrapping an arm around your waist. His free hand nudged underneath your chin, getting you to look at him. “I’m not trying to hide you, I promise. I’m just trying to protect you, okay? You know how fans can get. I just didn’t want to scare you away.”
His words were a gentle reassurance that calmed your anxieties a little. You nodded at his words, leaning in to kiss his lips softly.
“So... do you think it would be okay?”
It was his turn to nod at you as he agreed; shooting a text to one of the security guards to alert them about what was happening.
“Come on, gorgeous.” His words warmed your heart as he lead you out of the hotel room, to wait in the lobby as security decided how to handle leaving. You could already see the abundance of fans outside, all waiting to steal a glance of the guys.
Calum could see the apprehension in your eyes as you looked outside, anxiously gripping his arm a little tighter as the group prepared to move outside.
“Hey,” He soothed, pressing a kiss to your forehead as your gaze broke from the chaos on the other side of the door. “You’re gonna be fine. Hold my hand, okay?”
He linked his slim fingers with yours and gripped your hand tightly, pulling you in close to his body as the door opened and you were lead out.
“Time for the world to see that you’re my girl.”

Your voice came out as a quiet murmur against his tshirt covered chest. A warmth radiated from his skin, from him as a person - he made you feel warm in more ways than one, none of which you’d be able to explain.
“Me too.”
He meant those words sincerely.
There wasn’t many people Calum felt truly himself around. Only his close family, his band, maybe a few other close friends. But then you came into his life, and he felt things he had never felt before. Only a few months into your relationship, he found himself excited rather than terrified at the prospect of committing himself to you, which was new for him.
He had no intention of going to your apartment. He’d taken you to your favourite restaurant, to treat you after a busy week at work not leaving you much time to speak to eachother. He insisted on walking you to your door, making sure you got into your apartment safely like he always did. However, he couldn’t ignore the happiness he felt when you apprehensively asked, “do you want to come in?”
Fast forward a few hours, he felt content as he relaxed into your couch, his arm nonchalantly wrapped around your shoulders. It felt natural. He was never one for PDA - it had taken him weeks to feel okay with holding your hand. But now, as you moved in a little closer towards his body, all he wanted to do was hold you. He couldn’t remember the name of the movie the two of you were currently watching; just that it was one you’d deemed a classic, and gasped in shock when he’d informed you that he’d never seen it.
“Do you want to stay over? I think I have some of your things from when you came over last time.” You asked, a little nervously, the fear of rejection lingering in your mind. He had only stayed over a handful of times before, your busy schedules not matching up as much as you’d like. But there was something comforting about sharing your bed with Calum.
“If that’s okay with you, baby.” The term of endearment fell naturally from his lips and you had to suppress the smile it brought to yours as he spoke.
“Of course, i’d love you to.” And you really would. You always slept better with Calum next to you, which was unusual. There were no nerves, no awkwardness - you felt at ease with his body laid close to yours. “I’ll lock up and find those clothes.”
“Okay, thanks.” He spoke quietly, a gentle smile on his face as he squeezed your hand in his before letting go. His eyes didn’t leave yours until you left the room, unable to stop himself from admiring you.
He waited a few moments before heading to your bedroom to join you. As he walked up the stairs, he could hear you singing quietly under your breath as you organised your bedroom, making his heart melt. Everything you did seemed to have an effect on him.
He knocked on your door lightly to get your attention, his heart melting at how you’d spruced your room up just for him. He was getting better at reading your feelings, and he felt as though you seemed a little anxious, like you wanted to impress him.
“Hey.” He murmured, wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you flush against his chest. You were yet to remove your makeup, your cheeks still glowing with a soft gold highlight, as well as small specks of worn mascara running underneath your eyes after you’d rubbed them from tiredness. “You good?”
You nodded, letting your hands trail up his body to rest on his soft cheeks, pulling him in a little closer and giving him a quick kiss. “Yeah i’m good, Cal. I have a spare toothbrush for you, it’s in the bathroom. Feel free to use anything else that you need.”
“You’re so sweet.” He chuckled, the sincerity in your voice going straight to his heart. “Thanks, babe.“
The two of you went about your night-time routines, simultaneously brushing your teeth and changing into comfier clothes. You tried to push the feeling of apprehension out of your mind as you grabbed your makeup remover, starting to clean your face.
“Stop watching me.” You pouted playfully at Calum, pushing at his bare chest gently as he kissed your cheek. “Go and get into bed, I’ll be right there.”
You kissed the tip of his nose and pushed him out of the bathroom, waiting until he had left before finishing your skin care routine.
Calum made himself comfortable in your bed, settling against the plush pillows and pulling the thick duvet up his body and under his arms. He felt so at home in your bedroom - maybe because everything in there made him think of you. The smell of your shampoo and faded notes of your perfume lingered on the sheets, flooding his senses with you.
The sight softened your heart as you closed the door to your en-suite, something about seeing Calum so relaxed in your bed making you feel even more at home than usual. It felt natural to see him there. His brown skin was a stunning contract to the white duvets, the beautiful ink on his skin exposed in all its glory for you to admire.
“Now who’s the one watching me?” He teased, pulling back the covers for you to join him as you rolled your eyes playfully. “You look cute.”
He held his arm out for you to settle into, and you rested your head on his bare shoulder. He pulled you in closer so you were against his chest, before pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
“Hi.” He murmured against your hairline, his hand beginning to rub soothing circles into the top of your back, already sending you to sleep.
“Hi.” You replied, shifting slightly in his hold to look up into his deep brown eyes. “Are you comfy?”
“I’m all good, gorgeous. Your bed is very comfortable.” He meant that in more ways than one. He’d come to realise that having you around made a lot of things seem more comfortable to him.
Pillow talk ensued between the two of you for a little longer, mindlessly sharing any thoughts that came to mind as you grew more tired in eachothers presence. You were halfway through explaining one of your favourite TV’s shows to him when you felt his head resting against yours, quiet snores escaping from his parted lips as he drifted off to sleep. You reached over to flick off your bedside lamp, being careful not to jostle him as you kissed his bare shoulder.
“Goodnight, Cal.”
