    CONFRONTED  BY  YET  ANOTHER FITUL  NIGHT,       michael   rots   away   in  bed.     in   spite   of   the   lulling   quiet   of   the   dark,      the   boy   is    bedeviled   by   clamorous   thoughts   that   taunt   sleep,      warding   it   off   like   rankled   wolves.  features   twitch   in  he   sits   up   in   bed,      palm   coddling   the   backside   of   his   neck;     the   tag   of   his   shirt   tinging   the   skin   at   the   nape   a   chafed   pink.     [  . . .  ]      in   a   slow,      languorous   movement,      michael   reaches   for   his    super - com,      idle    upon   cluttered   nightstand.      sock - clad   feet   meet   carpet   and   the   boy - knight   is   stationed   at   the   window,      peering   into   the   thick   inkiness   of   maple   street   to   make   out   the   orange   beacon   aglow   in   the   remoteness;      right   way  is   the   malaise  that   gnaws  at  him  subdued.
