Introduction and idea behind this
Hi!
So, this is a new thing for me, as much of 2023 is becoming. The idea for this came about after a therapy session, and so here it is!
2023 has changed my world completely and this has been devised as a way to share my story and journey as part of me moving forward.
2023 started as many years have, nothing out of the ordinary. And then it hit. My wife had decided we were to separate. No working through it. Nothing left to do. We were done.
My world stopped…. and then fell to pieces.
Time had been called on what I thought was forever. Life felt…. over. It felt like the end…….
Fast forward to the date of this post. Are we back together? No. Will that ever happen? No. Would I like that to happen? Who knows.
What I do know is that from those deep dark depths at the beginning of the year and me starting this I feel like I have lived a thousand lives and am in a place I never thought I would be.
This is my attempt to put this journey to paper, openly discuss mental health issues, talk music (which will more than likely give away my age!), and post photos and other randomness!
Please be kind and respectful of all opinions that appear.
I aim to post regularly but please don’t hate if I don’t!
Much love

TW/CW: Suicide/Self-harm I haven’t been very active here as of late, but before Mental Health Awareness Month comes to close this year I wanted to talk a bit about a group called Boys Get Sad Too. From my perspective as a woman I am proud to have seen the topics of mental health and self-care greatly increase within the female-identifying community the last few years, especially since the pandemic royally wrecked all of our shit. That being said, while I feel that this topic has become less taboo (and should continue to become even less so), everyone should be supported in their mental health/self-care regimens- males/male-identifying persons included. According to statistics as recent as 2020, 84 men take their lives every week in the UK, while that number is about the same per DAY here in the United States. Additionally, in 2015 (the most recent year for which data is available), it was reported that approximately 575,000 people visited a hospital for injuries due to self-harm. #BGST was formed in the UK in 2018 and their goal is to actively work to raise awareness for the struggles that men face. 10% of their proceeds go to CALM (The Campaign Against Living Miserably) charity, and I’m happy to wear this shirt/share this post to help both groups open up the conversation around male mental health. Mental illness can affect everyone, and mental health in general is incredibly important- not only for our generation, but for those ahead of us in life and those come after us. Let’s do what we can today to help ensure a better future for tomorrow. 🕊 Stay well Xx ❤️ #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MaleMentalHealth #BoysGetSadToo #BeTheLightForOthers (at Sherman, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeNSWMiOALA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Boys get sad, too. Sadness and emotions aren't "un-manly". I f-ing hate the phrase "boys don't cry." Stop perpetuating toxic masculinity and encourage the boys and men in your life to be transparent when they're down. #boysgetsadtoo https://www.instagram.com/p/CaN_c_ZsfIV/?utm_medium=tumblr
