ive had a thought while reading through the jedi quest series, and then rewatching/rereading the prequel movies and such, that though anakin is genuinely obsessed with obi-wan telling him the truth and being entirely honest with him, all anakin ever does is lie, manipulate and decieve.
anakin is so certain that obi-wan MUST divulge every single thought and feeling he has had, and is fuming when he thinks that obi-wan is not being entirely open and honest with him, yet from as young as 12 years old he is deceitful and aloof, only ever telling half-truths and manufactured realities. it is so interesting to see the progression of how these thoughts of a 12-year-old descended into the madness of adult-anakin.
it was not a switch that was flipped suddenly, he has always been this way. he genuinely believes that he is owed every single thought and feeling of obi-wan's, yet perpetually harbours dishonest and secretive ideas. not just the constantly disappearing to street race illegally, or engage in 'un-jedi-like' behaviour in the lower levels of coruscant to gain satisfaction and control in his life, but the also fact he decided he 'had to MAKE obi-wan love him', that he deserves to be able to 'test' obi-wan's love and dedication, and that, to him, it was ok for him to lie and omit his violent and toxic feelings about using the dark side, or taking revenge on those he deemed enemies, because he knew he would be banished from the jedi order - so it was better to simply not discuss them and in his mind he didnt owe obi-wan that honesty,
for someone who spent their entire life hurt that obi-wan, the council, or his peers, were never entirely open and transparent him - anakin spends the majority of his life lying through his teeth and manipulating the universes perceptions of humself to fit the mould he wants and needs.
