Blaine Vernicek - Featured Printer
Blaine Vernicek is a photographer based in South-Florida and is completely self-taught. He has never had a lesson in photography and with the help of his dad taught himself everything.
“Growing up in the Florida Keys with limited accessibility, I’ve learned to work independently, with just a handful of equipment and little to no budget”.
The equipment Blaine used is what he has found from rummaging through old Junk shops, Storage Units and abandoned offices. From 35mm and medium format cameras to his very own darkroom, it’s all a DIY process. His favourite films are Tri-X and Arista Premium because they are easy to find and have great contrast.
Part of what makes his images so unique is the beautiful, un-refined nature of them. In a world where, especially with digital, we have come to expect perfect exposure, sharpness and clarity Blaine’s images are an intriguing breath of fresh air. Blaine uses his unique eye and taste for experimentation and innovation to capture the people around him in a way most of us would rarely manage to. His images show a deep and intimate look at his life, work and surroundings.
Blaine Vernicek is a very interesting photographer and I’m looking forward to watching his work and style grow. If you’d like to see more of his work you can find him on Tumblr, Lomo and Flickr.
He also has a print up for trade. Just search for the #BPMPOFFER tag and check it out.
Don't forget to put your own print up for trade and if you want to be considered for the featured printer send us an email with a few words and pictures!
We've got out first ever featured printer coming up in Blaine Vernicek. Blaines photographic style is very distinctive and all his work is completely home-processed which is super cool. Keep your eyes peeled and here is a sneak peek...
Remember, if you're interested in being a Featured printed send an email to [email protected] with a bit of info about yourself as well as some of your work.

Up for trade are a couple prints I did in my photo101 class. Both 8x10 prints, window matted with 11x14 boards, and printed by yours truly with a Beseler 23CII on Ilford's MG Pearl.
