Saw an NGL on Twitter stating that they were going to start review bombing an independent movie made by a queer WOC (which is a work of fucking art btw, got to see it twice) because said woman replied to a post that showed a fan, who got a bracelet related to the movie earlier that day when none of us even know he was in the city or where he was going to be that night, giving it to Connor. He wore it throughout the afterparty. Said filmmaker replies like omg thank you for sharing.
firstly, that bracelet on someone like Connor (who has seen the movie at least twice and the genre is literally right up his alley) is a conversation stater. He is the IT man right now. Everyone wants a piece of him, wants to talk about him. People want to know what the bracelet he was wearing (paired with a denim jacket that dusted his wrists so it was on display) and what it represents. This is about that project of hers being seen, noticed, and talked about.
secondly, the NGL said some bs along the lines of "no one is going to want to distribute it now that the reviews are bombed". Y'all clearly have no idea about the industry. Reviews truly don't mean what y'all think it is. The people who matter in the industry are really good at recognizing patterns. Do you really think that they wouldn't notice that a movie that won multiple awards during its initial film festival circut and has been raved about for the past year all of a sudden had an influx of bad reviews. A movie where it is like the hunger games to get tickets to because it... spoiler alert... doesn't have distrobution and has not been leaked online... A movie that you have to see in theatre when they are doing special screenings. Please be so serious.
I have gone twice and both times the crowds were so fucking hyped.
