Hullo! I know I haven’t posted in a long time, but this was the most recent video I had put out over a year ago.
I’ve kept putting off editing another video, but in the meantime here’s for anyone wondering what actually happened (I gotta whole to-do list for this blog that I’ve procrastinated on).
I mean, if anyone is still around, feel free to send in any questions you may have. I definitely check my YouTube a lot more frequently than I do with my blog.
It’s ironic to think that having braces will help you to learn to accept yourself but it’s true. The final result is a beautiful smile, of course it takes a while before it gets there. In the mean time you can only embrace it and learn to feel empowered rather than disadvantaged by something you are already actively trying to improve.
And on that note, I’ve chose a bright turquoise despite having to go for interviews this month (there is no reason to feel shy). The coil is there to hold the gap and a metal tie wire is wrapped around my incisor’s bracket to continue tilting the root for the dental implant. No power chain, but you can see how my teeth are now aligned in the middle! I believe I will get a cleaning this month and will update when that happens.
Shoutout to Nancy for picking out my braces colour today! -when you bring your friends to get your braces tightened- o(*゚▽゚*)o
Iridescent blue on top and a powdery blue on the bottom.
Holy coils. This must be the most gigantic spring I’ve ever had.. It’s supposed to hold the gap in place rather than making it bigger. It sticks out so I can’t close my mouth properly :’( I also have a metal tie wire around my lateral incisor as it’s going to continue rotating the root to make room for the implant.
No fake tooth either. Surprise, it wasn’t ready. Next month they say. But I’m ready to go toothless until I get my implant lol
Also, no power chain this month. My teeth ache in the front but I’m still eating my crunchy cheetos and sandwiches (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و - cut up in smaller pieces of course.
SEE YOU ON JUNE 8TH!

QUESTION:
Should I pay out of my own pocket to get my teeth cleaned next month, or wait until September for my school’s dental insurance to renew? (My teeth are getting quite bad and the insurance only covers one cleaning per school year)
OR should I get my top wisdom teeth out? There’s enough left over for both. I just need to find a week where I don’t mind looking like Quagmire...
#gaptoothgang S/O to my friends who read this blog haha.
The bracket on the incisor has been re-positioned to tilt the root of my incisor, like the prosthodontist suggested. There’s a green dot on my bracket cause it’s brand new! It’ll come off eventually.
There’s still no fake tooth.. my ortho promised me it’ll be ready next month.
AND LOOK. No spring! Notice the curvy wire... Ah, I feel pretty exposed right now since my braces look clear from far with that mint colour. If I had known I would also be getting a power chain to connect my top arch, I would’ve picked something bolder! I’m sad.
No more manatee elastics for me to wear for now either. And yes, I need to clean my teeth soon ;_; it probably looks worse cause I took it in daylight. Oops.
My incisor definitely feels more fragile and a bit numb.. Update: hoooLy crap. my molars hurt on one side and my gums are tender. Ouch it hurts to eat bread :’(
This post is as overdue as the amount of days I have not washed my hair (because I dyed it pink! Woooo unicorn status)... and it’s also my 99th post!
On Tuesday my orthodontist said my gap is wide enough for an implant! So many milestones! I’m surprised because it was estimated closer to June and it’s only March now.
Note: I have to call back the prosthodontist to coordinate with them for the latter part of my braces - they get the last say on the amount of space needed for the implant. I admit, I’ve been procrastinating on making the appointment but I’ll make sure to call on Monday as soon as I can. I’m sorry my posts have all been like “STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT EPISODE!” but really I am just taking it step by step - even I am not 100% sure what’ll happen next.
The spring is inactive right now, it is just holding the space. I am still wearing my elastics in the same configuration and I think you can tell that it has really, really paid off. The last photo shows my tooth soooo close to lining up with my middle line vs. this picture of my bite from two years ago:
#throwback, it’s unbelievable the progress that I’ve made (view the original post here)
On the 15th I would’ve had my braces on for 2.5 years! So exciting. My peers who have gotten braces on after I did are already getting them off by now - ah such a long process, and I will continue to write until everything is done.
I’ll post a new update as soon as I get the assessment too! Depending on when, I’ll see you on April 5th :)
Let me know if you have any questions! I’ve changed the ask box to allow anonymous questions. I’ll also compile all the photos into a gif/video as soon as school is done in April.
Last time I got my teeth cleaned was in May by my orthodontist. Today I went back to my regular dental office.
I got X-rays, had my teeth scaled with this ultrasonic tool, polished, and a fluoride rinse after. I also got a free toothbrush, but I prefer the ones that my orthodontist gives out because it has jagged edges that I think brush a lot better.
We had the stains removed and only a partial polish because my wires were in the way. I also had them look at my top wisdom teeth, which they told me were growing out, but in the wrong direction. The fact that they’re back there also makes it harder to brush. They said the top usually is easier to remove surgically and has a better healing process than the bottom.
Oh! And no cavities, despite the sugary foods I’ve been eating. I was told to floss more and to use the interdental pick (the ones that look like little Christmas trees) to clean around the brackets so debris don’t harden into plaque.
