OH BOY here’s the Unpopular Opinion: i don’t like shikatema. i feel like their respective loyalties and goals conflict too much for them to have a good long-term relationship, and that while they have a great professional relationship they wouldn’t work out well as a couple. honestly, what i really dislike is the fanon interpretation of shikatema. i’m sick to death of this whole thing where two people fighting constantly or ‘hating each other’ is supposed to be romantic. it’s not; it’s an ugly dynamic and it makes for an unhappy relationship. ask any kid who grew up with their parents at each other’s throats how romantic it is. could it work between them? yeah, and honestly i’d be a HUGE fan of shikatema if their relationship was based on their mutual respect and admiration for each other, but the fandom has turned me off of it way too much to be interested anymore.
