Based on my memories of the show...I don’t think I noticed how much Alan is also starting new. Was the reason ever revealed? In this episode Christine mentions that Alan his sold his house and clues us in about its opulence.

PS: You know what Alan could have done? Drive Christine to the airport and then grab lunch there!
