In the Spring of 2015 I caught this @mayahayuk in #Braddock Pennsylvania on the final stop of my #rustbeltroadtrip. The story of the city of #BraddockPA is a complicated one that goes back to the days of the area’s thriving steel mills. In the 1920’s the population of the town peaked at 21,000 people, many of them workers from the local mills in Braddock and Pittsburgh. When I visited in 2015 the town’s population was roughly 2100, about 10% of its peak. I was brought to the area by the work @swoonhq was doing and continues to do with her #BraddockTiles project and @theheliotropefoundation!
