The bedroom Satomi had set up for Genevieve was significantly larger than any room the small wolf had ever slept in. It was almost too big, too much empty space and too much room for her wild thoughts. Genevieve was almost certain the spare room had been given to her out of pity, like most things she’d been given in her life. 

But this bedroom was too big. Especially tonight. Genevieve huddled up against the headboard of the new and unfamiliar bed, knees drawn tightly to her chest as she let out a heavy sigh, the anxiety of the last few days still refusing to leave her body. 

“Hey, you okay?” 

Genevieve jumped slightly at the sound of Brett’s voice, her eyes widening more than usual as she turned to look up at the tall boy. He was leaning against the doorframe, eyes crinkled slightly in concern as he gazed at her. 

“Yeah, I’m fine,” Genevieve said but even she barely believed the words falling from her lips. “Just tired.” 

Brett nodded slowly, his eyes still a little disbelieving as he watched her. “Well the rest of the pack is heading off now so I guess I’m leaving now too.”

Genevieve nodded silently, her eyes dropping back to the edge of the bed as she hugged her knees a little tighter. She could hear Brett’s heartbeat, quick with nerves. At least she wasn’t the only one feeling nervous and out of place now. 

As Brett went to leave, Genevieve felt her own heartbeat stutter, the sight of him leaving again causing her to flashback to their last argument. “Wait, Brett-” she cut off, watching as Brett froze, his back to her. “I….I just..Please stay with me tonight. I don’t want to be alone,” Genevieve continued finally, inwardly cringing at the uncertainty in her tone.

“Genny…” Brett turned to face her, an unreadable expression in his eyes now. “I don’t know if that’s a good idea…Not after everything we said.”

“Please, just for tonight. I know what I said…” Genevieve trailed off, blinking away the tears threatening to spill over her cheeks. “But right now I really don’t want to be alone.” 

Brett studied her for a moment, lips pursed as the two wolves locked eyes. Finally he let out a slow exhale, nodding as he moved towards her, climbing onto the bed beside her. “Just for tonight,” he said, pulling her into his arms just like he used to, his warmth automatically calming the bubble of nerves running through Genevieve’s veins. “Just for tonight,” Brett repeated, but Genevieve wasn’t sure who he was convincing now. She didn’t mind though. As long as she could have one more night of ignorance, one last night before reality could sink its claws back in.

They’d spent their first night together, and whilst nothing had actually happened between them, Aspen had woken with more energy and excitement to start her day than she had done in a very, very long time. Unable to simply lie there, whilst she waited for Jughead to wake up she’d untangled her limbs from his and crept from the bed, rummaging through a pile of what she assumed to be clean clothing and pulling on an old tshirt emblazoned with a large ‘S’, a pair of thick socks and a hoodie to keep off the chill that lingered in the poorly insulated trailer. 

She’d left his room, glancing back towards him once before ducking out, and wandered slowly down the hallway, stopping to look at each and every picture that hung haphazardly on the thin walls. She smiled at Jellybean who grinned toothlessly back at her, and found herself smirking at a young FP Jones who looked remarkably similar to his now teenage son. Aspen continued through the trailer, picking up various items as the went and putting them back into their rightful place - having knocked a number of them down in the heat of the moment the night before. 

“Penny?” A sleepy voice called out to her, and Aspen smiled at the sound of it. There was only one person on earth who called her that, and until quite recently the pair had been complete strangers - now she couldn’t imagine her life without him. 

“I’m out here.” She called back, letting Jughead know she hadn’t gotten cold feet and made a run for it at first light.

“Come back to bed..” He groaned, as he rolled over, burying his face into the pillow beside him and breathing in the lingering scent of Aspens strawberry flavoured shampoo. 

Aspen padded back to the bedroom, leaning against the door frame when she arrived. “I took your hoodie and I’m not giving it back.” She said matter-of-factly. Jughead lifted his head from the pillow and smirked.

“It looks better on you anyway.”

“That was crazy…” Pepper said as she handed Toni a fresh ice pack. Toni laughed quietly as she took it, and placed it against her right eye where a bruise was already starting to appear despite how little time had passed. “You’re a rockstar Topaz.” 

“I don’t feel like one Pip.” Toni groaned. She felt as though every inch of her skin was on fire, as though every single bit of her hurt. 

“Pepper’s right Tones, you crushed it. Made the gauntlet your bitch.” Aspen smiled, she was sat on her bed, with Toni on the floor beneath her legs, her fingers brushing gently through her best friends hair. 

“I didn’t do it as quick as you did…” Toni groaned again.

“Not many people have.” Aspen said proudly, continuing to absentmindedly run her fingers through Toni’s hair. “But who cares, you’re officially a serpent now! Two down, only one to go…Pip?”

“No chance.” Pepper stood on the other side of the room and shook her head. “If you think I’m going to let a bunch of serpents beat on me for half an hour just to get a jacket you can think again.” 

Aspen shrugged, “whatever…now Tones, lay your head in my lap and try to get some rest, we’re gonna need to head down to the bar to celebrate pretty soon and I need you fighting fit.”

Oh, I’ve got an ask for Aspy, what will be her relationship with Sweet Pea, Fangs or even FP?? And with the Core Four or even Cheryl ??

FIRST OF ALL LET ME JUST SAY, I love that you’re calling her Aspy! That is what her dad calls her when he’s not calling her Princess and oh goodness me I am feeling some typa way about people calling her nicknames already gOSH. 

To answer your questions, Asp’s relationship with Sweet Pea and Fangs is a really good one. They’re good friends, best friends basically and they do pretty much everything together - they respect her, and although Sweet Pea likes to pretend he’s in charge, we all know that it’s actually Aspen pulling the strings. Her relationship with FP is one of the utmost respect, but not just her to him, he very much respects this baby snake. He spent a lot of time at the Whyte Wyrm before being thrown in jail and he’s watched Aspen grow into a fine young serpent. He would 100% approve of Jaspen. 

Cheryl thinks Aspen has potential, she just needs to work the serpentine ways out of her. Aspen is tall, blonde, beautiful and Cheryl is a very superficial person. She sees Asp and immediately thinks what a great flyer she’ll make for the vixens - not that she trusts her though. At all. 

The core four, well obviously we know Jug and Aspen get on very well. V and A are also a fun dynamic because Veronica sees quite a bit of her old self in Aspen, but Aspen has it under control and Ronnie is lowkey impressed - they will eventually get on very well. Archie is just happy that Jughead is happy and Betty? Well Betty and Aspen do not get on whatsoever but that will be expanded on more in the fic. It’s not just cause of Juggie.
