I DON"T KNOW WHAT FUCKING PAPER TO USE FOR PAINTING

i'm using gouache (opaque watercolor) and i'm frothing at the MOUTH

i tried cold press watercolor paper but it had too much tooth and it was hard to get the level of detail i wanted. tried bristol and it goes ON nice but the bristol always WARPS LIKE HELL. my printing paper was too thin (screenprinting paper, that is) and just now i tried hot press watercolor paper for the first time and like.... the PAINT seems fine but i couldn't sketch my sketch or erase without ruining the surface a bit.

i really need to find some ways of feeling better that one can implement in the middle of the night like, my usual 'i feel anxious/sad/otherwise bad' remedy is to get cleaned up and take myself out for a walk/coffee/some windowshopping maybe, bc pretending to be a person usually helps fit me back into the shape of one, at least a little but you can't really take yourself out for a walk past midnight, or, well, you can, i suppose, but wandering down dark & empty streets doesn't make things feel any less surreal or lonely (i mean obviously one answer is 'fix ur sleep schedule, K' but like, i've been working on that for ten years, i'm not holding my breath) anyway if there are things you do when you're up late feelin weirdbad i'd be grateful for any suggestions!

So. Storytime.

Once upon a time I was in class, joking about how my head is a fuckin mess, and this one guy, who is very nice, but also very boring, looked me in the eye and really profoundly said to me, “We all have our demons, Sasia“

I’m not certain what my response was. Probably ‘…yeah‘. What I THOUGHT was ‘… ah yes. Demons. I, suppose I have some of those somewhere too.‘

The other day I refound a song and I realized, this would make for an excellent Brain Remix Song. So I began creating an audio representation of what my head is yelling at me when Brains do Things. And here it is. The Timothy Remix™

Featuring jingles from Bill Wurtz, the voice of @pipistrellus , otamatone cover of greensleeves, various audio bits from different vines as well as from KickthePJ videos, downtown chicago tornado sirens, a screeching barn owl, and more. Translation of the danish singing would be a slightly butchered pronouncation of ’it is all my fauuuuult‘.

The only thing missing is someone yelling very loudly that “WE’VE GOT SCURVY!!”, but I made do without.

feeling some type of way about moving to a whole new area, a whole new state, and finding a bunch of people here who have never really left, not once in their whole lives. like their families have been here for generations, they've never really traveled, they don't just know local history they ARE local history. and here i am, having moved 2000 miles away from my parents, who once moved 2000 miles away from their parents, who mostly came from places even farther away from that, and i was never really sure i fit where i grew up but it was all i knew, even if it never seemed like i knew enough.

what does it feel like to stay? to be so grounded? is it stifling? is it small? or does it feel more like roots, holding you steady?
