WEEK 27 - “Light it up”
Looking for the best business books to read? These seven books will help your marketing take a leap forward in 2014.
The Passion Conversation – I love marketing books that focus on science and research. For example, early on in The Passion Conversation, the authors tackle the three forms of motivation that spark Word of Mouth: Functional, Social and Emotional.
Who should buy it: Anyone that’s responsible for connecting either directly or indirectly with customers, and who wants to increase customer loyalty and improve brand perception. Read more
Word-of-mouth marketing is responsible for up to 50 per cent of all purchase decisions and should be an increasingly important part of a marketer’s on and offline brand approach, global word-of-mouth (WOM) marketing expert, Geno Church, claims.
Speaking at the first of a new series of industry breakfast briefings in Sydney on 23 October hosted by consultancy, The Influence Group, Church pointed out 90 per cent of consumer conversations about brands and companies are still happening in the offline world. The Passion Conversation looks at the science and research behind what motivates us to have passion and excitement for a particular business or cause. It’s a wonderful companion to their first book, Brains on Fire, and I’m very excited that John has agreed to tell you more about it. Read more

Global word-of-mouth expert Geno Church has said word-of-mouth marketing is responsible for up to half of all purchase decisions, while advertising only promotes a quarter of all conversations.
n Sydney this morning for a breakfast hosted by The Influence Group to speak about the latest academic research around WOM marketing, Geno said 90% of consumer conversations about brands are still taking place in the offline world, with over three-quarters happening face-to-face. Read more
Seventy-eight percent of brand conversations aren't prompted by advertising, but marketers can harness this chatter to create evangelists, argues word-of-mouth expert Geno Church.
Speaking to marketers and adlanders this morning at the Influence Group breakfast, Church recited the statistic. He said: “Advertising prompts only 22% of conversations people have about a brand. That means 78% of conversations about brands aren't related to advertising. That's a giant playground of touchpoints.” Read more
