(Torneyes au , where ashpaw is blinded by Tigerclaw when brindleface was murdered by sacrificing herself for her child to get away. Bluestar blamed him for his mother’s death and gave him the warrior name Torneyes. Bramlepaw and tawnypaw felt very guilty that tigerclaw blinded torneyes thus they -mostly bramblepaw/claw- helps him do his warrior duties. As Torneyes refuses to become an elder. He’s even brought on the journey as bramleclaw didnt want to leave his blind friend alone. Thus started the teasing from crowpaw and squirrelpaw about them being mates because brambleclaw is very overprotective of a cat he said was a great fighter for being blind)
(this takes place in the ash cloud the medicine cat Au, instead of the sister telepathy between squirrel flight and leaf pool star clan sends ash cloud with bramble claw and the other chosen cats on the journey to save the tribe cats. this is on the return home to warn the clans after feather tail’s death)
Bramble claw woke up to the sound of rustling grass and rubbed his muzzle. Was it morning already? He thought as he shifted to his feet. He looked around to see that everyone was still asleep. He stood there confused for a moment then realized it was still dark. A certain cat was also missing from the group.
“where’s ash paw?”Bramble claw said softly as he climbed over Tawnypelt towards the rustling noise.He had to make sure ash paw was okay, the medicine cat apprentice had saved his sister after all. Ash paw had been doing his best to keep them all in good health as well. Even if he went overboard at times , bramble claw was glad they brought a medicine cat with them.The tom cat crawled under a bush listening to the rustling noise as he got closer.
Has bramble claw got closer to the noise he readied himself to pounce,before he heard a familiar voice hiss,”for the love star clan there has to be some cobwebs somewhere!”
Bramble claw stood up quickly under the bush hitting the back of his head on a branch. A surprised squeak escaping his mouth and catching Ash paw’s attention.
“Crow paw is that you? if your stomach still hurts I found some juniper berries they usually help with stomach pains”ash paw said picking up a few berries he’d managed to find while everyone was asleep. He felt he had to stock up on whatever he could for when they started to travel again in the morning. the cat couldn’t really sleep either, he was secretly worried for crow paw and squirrel paw’s well being. Especially Crow paw, has the apprentice’s health seem to drop as they started back towards the clans. Crow paw had continual stomach pains from what he told Ash paw and had been asking if he could eat some poppy seeds to relieve the pain. Thus Ash paw went in to a frenzy as soon as everyone went to sleep to find juniper berries and chervil roots for crow paw.While trying to think of what could give the apprentice such stomach pains.
“ah no he’s asleep” bramble claw said coming out from under the bush and walking over to the other tom,”I didn’t know he had stomach pains he seems fine to me”
“well you’ve been walking ahead of me with tawny pelt and squirrel paw” Ash paw scoffed as he put the berries down,” Its kind of hard for you to notice when you’re busy with your litter mate and little Ms.Right”
Bramble Claw frowned as ash paw turn towards him and seemed to be studying his head, Bramble claw mewed thinking of his comeback,”I guess that means you only know because you’ve been lacking behind us huh?”
“I know because he asked me if he could eat poppy seeds for it”ash paw said as he gestured with his paw for bramble claw to lean forward. The cat was doing his job while mocking bramble claw for not knowing about crow paw’s stomach pain. Bramble claw leaned forward as ash paw continued talking, “ Its also my job to be able to fix these things so warriors like you can keep fighting”
“yeah I know and your pretty good at it Ash paw” Bramble Claw said as ash paw checked his head. Bramble Claw noticed the medicine cat’s tail shifted uneasily as he turned to a pile of herbs and berries he collected. The cat shifted through them as bramble claw sat back up. Ash paw pulled out some thyme and gave to the cat.
“Eat that it’ll keep you leveled so you can get back to sleep” ash paw said has he looked at the rest of his poor pile. Bramble claw looked at the thyme for a moment before putting it back in the pile ash paw had.
“Its ok I can get back to sleep on my own. why are you collecting stuff anyway?” bramble claw said as ash paw sighed,”i mean we’ll be back in thunder clan in a few days”
“Im just trying to make sure no one else joins star clan okay?” Ash paw hissed as bramble claw looked over his shoulder,”so i need this stuff to do that”
Ash paw shook slightly has the memories came back to his mind. The other reason he couldn't sleep. Whenever he closed his eyes he saw feather tail laying on the cave floor dying slowly and being able to do nothing for her as crow paw pleaded her not to die. Then he’d see his mom dying slowly as him and fern paw only watched. He hated not being able to do anything for either of them. Ash paw sat down and took a deep breath as his eyes started to water. Bramble claw rested his tail on Ash paws back as the cat started to cry.
“it’s going to be ok ash paw we’re almost home” bramble claw said softly as he looked at the tom,”what about we both go to bed okay?”
