Darktail starting to growl because something upset him, so Bramblestar grabs him by the scruff (a cat his size!) and drags him off to his den for a wash. Darktail's just pouty the whole time until Bramblestar prods him, "Are you ready to use your words to talk about what's wrong?" And a now-chastened Darktail just quietly like, "Someone took the mouse I wanted..."

I do love big mean cruel canon Darktail, but he is very much a big ball of Daddy Issues, so I also wanna see him with an older tom who makes him blush whenever he praises him.

Candidates for Darktail's daddy (roughly in order of how much I like the concept):

Bramblestar: Already has a Dad arc going on in AVoS and would create some funny interactions with POV Alderheart

Crowfeather: Also already has a Dad arc going on, and could have some natural contrasts with Onestar wrt Darktail

Cloudtail: As a non-clan-born cat brought into the clans as a kit, he could be an aspirational model for Darktail -> dad

Scorchfur: he's everyone else's dad already anyway and is the initial voice to speak up in favor of replacing Rowanstar with Darktail in the books iirc

Hawkwing: If we ignore the odd timeline stuff that comes with Hawkwing's Journey, they could have some moment once SkyClan arrives at the lake. Shenanigans with Darktail and Twig/Violet.
