i got this sceme from a tablet weaving workshop i went to. you mostly tension it with slipknots and ikea clips (the ones to keep your chips fresh yk). the heedle is made out of cardboard foe now, but i'll either make one out of wood myself or get my brother to 3d print me one.
and it works! i wouldnt say that it works increadibly well but very much good enough for me

Concept: Bear Island is kinda the perfect place for a whaling industry.
Geographically, what we know about the climate of the north is similar to real-life places that have/had whaling industries (places like Scotland, which GRRM has confirmed is an inspiration for the north). There's even a real-life Norwegian island where whaling happened called Bear Island. It's literally perfect.
(Also, the idea of a place with a whaling industry being called Bear Island is funny to me.)

she cares about nathan that is her leading motivation throughout the show, but we see it in such interesting ways. she didn't immediately tell the council nathan was healing faster/could hear her heartbeat. she got on that boat with the others. she trained him and let him live in the cottage.
but she's horrible. she doesn't see the bad the fairborn council is doing, can't see that she is part of a bigger problem. but she cares so much.
